In our living room, we have a gray, super-soft, large blanket that technically belongs to our middle child (and he doesn't forget that intended-priority ownership), but that blanket is everyone’s favorite.
Our daughter grabs it on TV nights, and our son wraps-up in it for morning cocoa and wake-up video-shorts. My mother-in-law has been known to use it to cover up during movie-nights at our house, and my husband likes it because it covers his long legs.
After a long Saturday of group-work on a school project, I have even seen a guest at our home pull it out (from behind the couch where it is stored), wrap up in it,
and take a nap!
Currently we have family visiting from out of state, and can you guess the
preferred blanket for my nephew’s inflatable bed when he lays down his 10-year old body? Yep--it's the (so) soft gray one!
It is a wonderful, often-washed, soft, comforting, big blanket, and many
people have been known to enjoy the comfort of it around them.
But, do you know what’s even better than the softest, cuddliest blanket?
God’s Word...and I am serious.
Right here and right now, let’s sit down and let’s be still, and let’s let the Bible drape over us. Let's let God's Word cover our heads and shoulders. Let the breath of God comfort and warm our body and our soul.
Let’s wrap what God says around us tightly, and let’s hunker-down with
the Word of God enveloping us.
Let us be cloaked in
the all-encompassing, ever-comforting, favorite Word of God today, specifically Psalm
139.

From the moment that we are old enough to comprehend and to be-aware-of ourselves, we have an innate desire to be known, and to be understood, and to be accepted and loved for who we are. God wraps His loving arms around us today and blankets us with that intimate love and knowledge of us.
We have been found.
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.(2) You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.(3) You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.(4) Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.(5) You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.(6) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. ~Psalm 139:1-6
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?(8) If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.(9) If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, (10) even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.(11) If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”(12) even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. ~Psalm 139:7-12

If the grey blanket in our living room is the preferred, comfortable, soft, favored option of our family and extended family when it comes to warmth and cuddling...then let's wrap the crescendo of God's Psalm 139 around our hearts and minds today in a similar fashion.
God loves us, intimately.
He made us on-purpose and with purpose. And we are known (inside and out!) by our Heavenly Father and Lord.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.(14) I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.(15) My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.(16) Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.(17) How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!(18) Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you. ~Psalm 139:13-18

Are we warmed-up by the covering-love of God's feelings for us?
Is there comfort in being cloaked in the truth of God's Word?
He sure hopes so.
Let's accept God's knowledge of us and let's trust in His feelings of love, inclusion, acceptance, forgiveness and joy over us.
Like a favorite blanket, God covers, and warms, and hugs us with His presence and purpose today. Enjoy.
