Are we in the fire today? Are we bound by invisible ropes that render our efforts/dreams/ hopes impotent?       Was our current circumstance sprung on us? No time to think...just forced to react? Can we withstand these outside forces that bear down on us today? Brothers and Sisters in Christ: We know the answer(s) to that question. Jesus looked at them and said,  “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  ~Matthew 19:26   What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  ~Romans 8:31 ~~~ Living boldly for God today is like riding in a roller coaster car.  Some days and moments are thrilling and amazing: People's hearts (including our own), are seeking God and lives are being changed for the better and for God's glory!  Wheeee! But there are also days when this ride is scary and on an ever-downward spiral... and we want off.   We are burdened by the fir...

Who was  Nebuchadnezzar ?  He was a great king of Babylon in the late 500 and early 600 years B.C. God allowed King  Nebuchadnezzar  to capture and rule over the people of Israel because they were not following God in His ways: They had abandoned the Lord, and they were living in all of the world's ways instead.  God did that?  ... Our hearts want to cry out in protest!  But--that's not fair!   Oh yah... God did that.  He can do anything He wants.  And He will do anything it takes to get His people's attention and to draw us back to Him.  (Is God allowing anything in our lives currently?  Could he possibly be attempting to get our attention and draw us back to Him?) And now... Back to Babylon!! While many of God's people, (the Israelites) were living in Babylon,  King  Nebuchadnezzar   built a ninety foot gold statue and ordered everyone to (literally) bow down and worship it. Then a herald shouted out, “Peo...

How much is one person's soul worth to us? ~~~ I'm a couponer.  I am a freebie-seeker.  I am a bargain-lover and if there is a BOGO (buy-one-get-one-free) bargain, then I am interested.   I've just always been that way: I don't throw extra money around or overspend. Unless Jesus is involved. ~~~ Getting my haircut the other day, I really connected with the hair stylist and we realized that we have children in the same grade at school!  We chattered, and (in a conversational way) I shared with her what God has been doing in our family's lives (college choices, health).  I also told her about the Christian fellowship group at our high school, and encouraged her to invite her child to attend.   I'm not sure she took me that seriously, but I put the invite out there.   When it came time to pay, I had a gift card (what a blessing!) for the haircut.  The gift card amount was $19.00 over my haircut amount.  When the stylist asked...

My husband had a dream the other night that (even while he was sleeping) seemed to keep him up all night.  In it, he was at school, but couldn't get (multiple) lockers open because the combinations wouldn't work.   He couldn't find his classroom, and his backpack had gone missing because of water on the floor of the bus.   It makes no sense--right?   He didn't know what it all meant, and neither do I.   King  Nebuchadnezzar  in the Bible (and in history) had a dream that he could not grasp the meaning of either.  He looked everywhere for someone to explain the meaning of his dream, and God selected Daniel to do it. I'll let Daniel reveal it to us, just as he did to  King  Nebuchadnezzar : “In your vision, Your Majesty, you saw standing before you a huge, shining statue of a man. It was a frightening sight.  ( 32)  The head of the statue was made of fine gold. Its chest and arms were silver, its belly and thi...

Fickle faith.  We've seen it.  We've lived it.    In a crowd of believers--they (we?) are all-in.  Hands raised and hearts-thumping...we step forward boldly for God (and mean it).   But then the beautiful faith-bubble bursts, and life sucker-punches us. Where is our faith now? Faraway?   Or are we running to the Bible for God's direction and peace before we freak out?   ~~~ King  Nebuchadnezzar was fickle in faith. When he was hot...he was hot, but when he was not... he was not . When he got what he wanted (via God), he was all-for/all-about/and all-in for God. And he brought many others with him as he rallied for God. For instance, King  Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and it wasn't one that you just roll-over and go back to sleep and forget about. It disturbed him because he couldn't figure it out. One night during the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had such disturbing dreams that he couldn’t sleep. ( 2) He ...
