Corona Devo 2039

My husband had a dream the other night that (even while he was sleeping) seemed to keep him up all night.  In it, he was at school, but couldn't get (multiple) lockers open because the combinations wouldn't work.   He couldn't find his classroom, and his backpack had gone missing because of water on the floor of the bus.

It makes no sense--right?

He didn't know what it all meant, and neither do I.

King Nebuchadnezzar in the Bible (and in history) had a dream that he could not grasp the meaning of either.  He looked everywhere for someone to explain the meaning of his dream, and God selected Daniel to do it.

I'll let Daniel reveal it to us, just as he did to King Nebuchadnezzar:

“In your vision, Your Majesty, you saw standing before you a huge, shining statue of a man. It was a frightening sight. (32) The head of the statue was made of fine gold. Its chest and arms were silver, its belly and thighs were bronze, (33) its legs were iron, and its feet were a combination of iron and baked clay.

(34) As you watched, a rock was cut from a mountain, but not by human hands. It struck the feet of iron and clay, smashing them to bits. (35) The whole statue was crushed into small pieces of iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold. Then the wind blew them away without a trace, like chaff on a threshing floor.

But the rock that knocked the statue down became a great mountain that covered the whole earth.  ~Daniel 2:31-35

Daniel goes on to explain that the material-portions of the statue in King Nebuchadnezzar's dream represent ruling kingdoms, and King Nebuchadnezzar and his rule are the head of gold.

Theologians since the time of Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar have and continue to have much discussion about the symbolism and timing of each of these kingdoms (symbolized by silver, bronze, iron, and iron-and-clay).  (For instance: Which "kingdom" are we in currently?)

And as I read these verses in the Bible today, I felt unsure about the exact meaning/interpretation of the statue-portions and materials, (just as my husband could not interpret what his dream about unlockable lockers meant).

I am not sure exactly what the silver, bronze, iron, and iron-and-clay mean.

But one part of the dream is specific and clear and exact.  We don't have to wonder or try to interpret, because God (through Daniel) explains it explicitly and clearly.

Were we listening?  We do not have to seek counsel about what it meant.

“During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.

(45) That is the meaning of the rock cut from the mountain, though not by human hands, that crushed to pieces the statue of iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold.

The great God was showing the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its meaning is certain.”  ~Daniel 2:44-45

Friends, we may not know (for sure) if we are living in the silver, bronze, iron, or iron-and-clay era of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream statue, but ready your hearts today for the final piece of that reigning-in-power puzzle.

...the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered.  ~Daniel 2:44

...the God of heaven...IS SETTING UP... a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered.  ~Daniel 2:44

~~~
Who is in power today?
Who thinks they are in power today?
Whose power is momentary, transient and earthly?
We can't bow-to and worship today's powers.
Worship, honor and obey the God of heaven today.
“During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.  ~Daniel 2:44
This is the only part of the dream (interpretation) that matters.
The great God was showing the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its meaning is certain.”  ~Daniel 2:44-45
It makes sense--right?
We might wonder or debate what part or reign (silver, bronze, iron, or iron-and-clay) we are living in, but we do not have to wonder about the final reign, because it is clear, and God even clarifies, maintains, and ascertains what we need to know:
“During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.  ~Daniel 2:44
There is no doubt, no discussion, no interpreting--God is speaking here of Himself , and it's the only part of the dream that matters at all.
He is setting up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever (Daniel 2:44).
God's Word declares that this is true and certain.  Of this we can be sure.
If we are currently feeling attacked or heckled or isolated in this world--take heart, Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33).  And that outcome is no dream.
It is foretold.  It is fore-warned.  It is for certain.
“During the reigns of those kings (it has been happening since Daniel's day, and it is occurring and becoming RIGHT NOW), the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered.  (God is DOING this!  He is setting up His kingdom currently!)
And it is no dream or fairytale or unexplained mystery.  God's ultimate reign and kingdom will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever (Daniel 2:44).
Believe and trust today in what God says will happen in the future.
Because it will happen.
The great God was showing the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its meaning is certain.”  ~Daniel 2:44-45
