Often, we are like a fizzy can of soda for Jesus: overflowing out of the top and running down the side.  "Jesus loves you!", our spirit wants to shout.

But people and their apparent aversion to faith in God can take the fizz out of our flow, and the God-gumption out of our gut, leaving us feeling flat.

It's no secret that people are choosing paths other than the one that leads to the Lord.  The world is becoming less covert and more overt in mocking God and those that follow and seek Him.

The prophet Isaiah was calling-it-as-he-saw-it in reference to people's responses to the Lord in his day, and he was not off-target in describing many people in our day:

Whom do you mock, making faces and sticking out your tongues?...  ~Isaiah 57:4

~~~
While Christ calls us to "go and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19), it’s understandable that we can become weary of the world, and its’ ways, and its’ people.
So many of our friends, family, acquaintances and co-workers seem to be content and even driven to continue down the (dead end) roads that they are on:
(5) You worship your idols with great passion…
You sacrifice your children…
(6) …Do you think all this makes me happy?
(7) You have committed adultery on every high mountain.  There you have worshiped idols and have been unfaithful to me.
(8) You have put pagan symbols on your doorposts and behind your doors.
You have left me and climbed into bed with these detestable gods.  You have committed yourselves to them…  ~Isaiah 57:5-8
~~~

These (two-thousand year old) verses are true, aren't they?  Many people seem utterly uninterested in pursuing what God has to offer, and they are (instead) fully committed to the empty pursuit of worldly idols.

People have created their own gods, and (if we are not careful), we can get to a tired and sometimes critical-spirit point of wanting to leave them to their poor/clouded/misled/empty decisions.

It’s fair to feel fettered by the culture of “me”, as we seek to serve “He”.

But, if this is us today, the Bible shakes-us-up in order to get us flowing and over-flowing for God's purposes today.

People are broken as a result of the rocks and stones (sin) that impede our paths and permeate our world and hearts.

But--do not grow weary today.  Let our hearts be encouraged.  It’s time to clear the path and rebuild the road to the Lord.

God says, “Rebuild the road!  Clear away the rocks and stones so my people can return from captivity.”  ~Isaiah 57:14

Who (that we know or have influence with) is held captive today?

How can we help to clear away the rocks and stones in their minds, hearts and lives, so that God’s people can return from captivity

What "rocks and stones", we may ask?  The rocks and stones of false idols, of misdirected worship, and of the mockery of God.

Those are some serious rocks and stones, and they are blocking the road to freedom for many, and holding them captive today.  We see these people and their choices all around us.  And (whether they know it or not), they are in captivity.

How can we help to clear away the rocks and stones today, so that God’s people can return from captivity?  Because...Can you hear that?

God says, “Rebuild the road!  Clear away the rocks and stones so my people can return from captivity.”  ~Isaiah 57:14

The Bible shakes-us-up in order to get us flowing and over-flowing for God's purposes today.  It’s time to clear the path and rebuild the road to the Lord.
