Corona Devo 2007

God's word is so applicable to us in every stage of life.  I read verses from the Bible, and God pricks my heart about my attitude, or priorities, or my sin today.

But I also read it and think how good and valuable
every.
single.
word.
is for my children and the world's children that we are seeking to raise with God's principals and Law as their foundation for life.

But I also read it and think, "I have to share this with my friends and neighbors and family and strangers because it will change their life!"

God's Word will redirect them and redefine them, and I must let them know about the Bible because it is the best way that I can love them!

But I also read it and think--there are people who don't know God...don't know His love for them and His good plan for them.  And if they could/would/knew to listen and obey Him and His Word...then everything would change for them.

I read the Bible and think these things because that's how it all happened for me.

We were one way...living in our old ways of living to satisfy our own desires.  We dabbled in sin, and sometimes we dove headlong into it, willingly.  We were addicted.  We were unfettered.  We were wild in the ways of the world.

We didn’t know any better then.

But today is different than then for me.  I know God and I love the Lord, so I must live as God’s obedient child.

Today is different for you too.  You didn’t know any better then, either.  But you do know better now.  You know God now.

For our children, for our friends, for anyone who has asked Christ into their heart just once (this is all it takes), then we are different now.

We didn’t know any better then...but we sure do now.  We know our Savior now.
And so we must live for Him now.  We have a holy calling that comes to us from the Lord, and just as God who chose you is holy...the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

And so we read verses from the Bible, and God pricks our heart about our attitude or priorities or our sin today.

We read the Bible and think how good and valuable
every.
single.
word.
is for us who are seeking to live with God's principals and Law as our foundation for life.

Let's be purposed to move forward in our call to being holy, and let's not slip.

Let's read the Bible.  Every single word is good and valuable for us:

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. (15) But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. (16) For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

(17) And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.”

(18) For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. (19) It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

(20) God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

(21) Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.

(22) You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

(23) For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

(24) As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. (25) But the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.  ~I Peter 1:14-24

Is God doing a work in us today through His Word, which is applicable to us in every stage of life?

We've read the verses now: Did God prick our heart about our attitude, our priorities, or our sin today?

Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then (I Peter 1:14).  But we do know better now.  And we know God now.

So, let's live as God’s obedient children today.
So, let's be holy today.
So, let's be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. (16) For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

Let the Bible (God's Word) redirect us and redefine us today.  God gave us His Word because it is the best way that He can love us!

Blessings,

Sarah
