“Listen to me….  I have cared for you since you were born.  Yes, I carried you before you were born.

(4) I will be your God throughout your lifetime—even to your old age and gray hairs.  I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

(13)  For I am ready to set things right, not in the distant future, but right now!  I am ready to save… and show my glory…”  ~Isaiah 46:3-4, 13

Sometimes I feel like I have lived a lot of life.

Kindergarten was forever ago!  (DO YOU REMEMBER KINDERGARTEN?)

Our youngest is finishing 5th grade  (DO YOU REMEMBER AGE 11?)  That seems like SUCH a long time ago for me.

Our oldest son will be studying for his drivers license soon. Even sixteen feels like ages ago.

I feel like time is flying.

But then I look around at the world and those I pass, those I see, those I love, and I realize that maybe I haven't lived all-that-much life yet.  Or maybe, a better realization is that many of you have lived A LOT MORE life than me.

You’ve seen depressions and inflation and wars and lots of presidents.  You’ve seen working-hard-for-a-living, and raising families, you’ve seen babies and weddings and funerals and perhaps now you are in a more relaxed season in your lives. And you've earned it.

But I was thinking about it, and I realized Something that you and I have in common, regardless of our ages...Something that WE ALL have in common: THE LORD… and His care for us.

Young or old, sinner or saint, He loves us and He cares for us.  And–did you know the Bible tells us that He has ALWAYS cared for us?

Ever heard of the prophet Isaiah?

Isaiah was a prophet in the Old Testament that told people about God and He even told people about Jesus–(before Jesus was born!).  That’s one of the reasons he was called a prophet–he foretold things before they happened.

He also told about things AS they happened.  Like how God cares for us all-through–our–lives. As we lived when we were younger--He cared for us then, and as we are here today—God cares for you and me.

Isaiah 46:3-4 says

“Listen to me….  I have cared for you since you were born.  Yes, I carried you before you were born.

(4) I will be your God throughout your lifetime—even to your old age and gray hairs.  I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Anyone need rescuing today?  Sometimes I do.  We all need rescued from things–the pain, the news on TV, sometimes I need rescuing from my stack of laundry or practice commutes.

God reminds us through these verses that He is right here with us…and He always has been.  He’s “cared for us since we were born.

I hope we can look back over our lives and see His hand  and I also hope that we can know that whatever we are facing today, He is right here beside us as we face it.

God says to us: “I will be your God throughout your lifetime—even to your old age and gray hairs.”

I checked this morning, and I have a few gray hairs already.  Maybe you don't yet, maybe you have a mane-full, or maybe you're bald--but no matter how-many or if-any gray hairs--God says that when we are young AND when we are old–even in our old age and when we have gray hair–HE IS OUR GOD.

Don’t forget that today.  Don’t forget who we have in our corner, no matter how old we are.

And sometimes I think that God might not want to love me because I’m not perfect, or because of stupid stuff I’ve done.  I bet you guys have thought those things too.

But God doesn’t think like us.  He just loves us.  We don’t have to earn it and we can’t un-earn His love.  Thank goodness.

So, if you ever feel like you have to “set things right” before God will love you–stop worrying!  We all know John 3:16  (For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.)  There are no pre-cursors to coming to Jesus–we just have to believe in Him, and that opens the door to Him.

The Bible says in Isaiah 46:13, "For I am ready to set things right, NOT in the distant future, but right now!  I am ready to save… and show my glory…”.

We don’t have to worry that we were too bad or sinful when we were younger or that we’ve messed up too many times for God to love us.  God says to us today:  For I am ready to set things right, not in the distant future, but right now!  I am ready to save…

Those are words from the Bible, but hear God speaking them into our hearts today.

The Lord knows everything about us.  He always has.  He reminds us that --He has cared for us since we were born.

And God tells us that He is right here with us still.  And He will be until the end.

I will be your God throughout your lifetime—even to your old age and gray hairs.  I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.  (Isaiah 46:4)

My hair might not be too gray yet, but God is with me now and today, and He’s with you guys too.  He made us and He says that He will carry us and sustain us.

Let Him be Your God and carry you today.

Dear Lord, thank You for caring for us since we were born.  Some of us were born a longer time ago than others, but You have always been with us and You will be throughout our WHOLE lifetime—even to our old age and gray hairs.  Thank You for  never abandoning us, Lord.   Thank You for sustaining us today.  Lord, let us come to You and love You, not in the distant future, but right now!  Amen.

Blessing,

sarah
