Will we wait for the Lord?
The world and its people seem to be wandering further away from God and His ways, and the Bible says that it will only get worse.
In the meantime...in the hard time...and even if there is silence from the Lord, will we wait for the Lord?
Isaiah said, "Yes", for himself and his children.
I will wait for the Lord, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him. (18) I and the children the Lord has given me serve as signs and warnings to Israel from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies who dwells in his Temple on Mount Zion... (20) Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark. ~Isaiah 8:17-18, 20
The people around Isaiah, God's people, (the Israelites) had turned away from God and turned into themselves. (Sound familiar?)
This is what the Lord says: “The children I raised and cared for have rebelled against me. (3) Even an ox knows its owner...but Israel doesn’t know its master. My people don’t recognize my care for them.” (4) Oh, what a sinful nation they are—loaded down with a burden of guilt. They are evil people, corrupt children who have rejected the Lord. They have despised the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. ~Isaiah 1:2-4
Although God desired very much for His people to seek Him and follow His ways, they would not. Their leaders would not. Their children would not. (Sound familiar?)
Your leaders are rebels, the companions of thieves. All of them love bribes and demand payoffs, but they refuse to defend the cause of orphans or fight for the rights of widows. ~Isaiah 1:4
~~~
God loves us--ALL of us. He laments when we turn from Him, and He relents the moment we turn to Him.
But accept/ignore/tolerate/excuse the sin of those opposing Him---He cannot. Our holy, Heavenly Father cannot accept sin, and He won't.
For the Lord has rejected his people...because they have filled their land with practices from the East and with sorcerers, as the Philistines do. They have made alliances with pagans. (7) Israel is full of silver and gold; there is no end to its treasures. Their land is full of warhorses; there is no end to its chariots. (8) Their land is full of idols; the people worship things they have made with their own hands. ~Isaiah 2:6-8
Sound familiar?
We have pushed and stripped God from most of our institutions, media-outlets and upbringings, and (instead) we have filled our land and minds with practices from many other "gods", and some might say sorcerers...just like most every other Nation has.
We've made alliances with pagans. Our Nation and much of our world is full of silver and gold; there is no end to its treasures.
Our lands are full of "warhorses"; there is no end to our "chariots". Our land is full of idols; the people worship things they have made with their own hands. (Isaiah 2:6-8).
This sounds so familiar!
Many people have rejected God, and those who have not would say that we are entering into the days when God will reject us due to our (collective) disobedience.
But...will we wait for the Lord?
In the meantime...in the hard time...and even if there is silence from the Lord, will we wait for the Lord?
Isaiah said, "Yes", for himself and his children--will we?
I will wait for the Lord, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him. (18) I and the children the Lord has given me serve as signs and warnings to Israel from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies who dwells in his Temple on Mount Zion... ~Isaiah 8:17-18
Hang in here, as morality slips and men become their own gods. I will wait for the Lord (Isaiah 8:17).
Hang on today, as the gauge moves (further) away from God's Truth and towards self-truth. I will wait for the Lord (Isaiah 8:17).
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, wait for the Lord. We can put our hope in him, and we shall. We shall wait and hope in Him.
And may we (even us!) serve as signs and warnings to Israel from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies...
Will we wait for the Lord today?
Yes, we will.
