Limes are so....sour. Face-contorting, and our tongues revolt at even a drop of lime juice on our palette. It's a harsh taste. Unforgiving and unyielding. And regardless of whether we pucker or yelp, a lime will not relent on it's strength and sourness.
But...add a little sugar and some water, and now we have a treat. Homemade lime-ade takes something quite unpleasant and changes it, metamorphosizes it, and reinvents it into something new and something we can actually enjoy.

What "limes" are touching our tongue today?
What hardship, illness, thorn, physical-limitation, depresser, challenge, trial or discipline is causing our face to contort or our spirit to revolt?
Are we experiencing something harsh? Unforgiving and unyielding? And regardless of whether we pucker or yelp, or pray, it appears to not relent on it's strength and sourness?
Keep praying, and don't give up today. xoxo
We always have hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, and He changes our situations. In His timing and in His wisdom, He takes our unpleasantries and changes them (or changes us!), metamorphosizes them (or metamorphosizes us!), and reinvents them (or reinvents us!).
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? (8) If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. (9) Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! (10) They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. (11) No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (12) Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. ~Hebrews 12:7-12
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. ~Hebrews 12:11
Of course, not every hardship we experience is a discipline, but God is with us through every victory and trial ("And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” ~Matthew 28:20) and He is always refining us to become more and more like Him (...but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. ~Hebrews 12:10)
There is an undeniable purifying that takes place when we are humbled by circumstance, situation, or health. But--if we will meet our Lord in that place of vulnerability, He will do great things with our faith and our intimacy with Him.
- Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. (13) But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. ~1 Peter 4:12-13
- And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. ~2 Corinthians 3:18
Limes are so....sour, and so are some of our life circumstances.
And some of us have more than a "drop" of sour-puckering-situations touching our spirit today. It can feel as if we are being forced to drink cups of "pure lime juice", in terms of the harsh, unforgiving and unyielding trials that we are experiencing.
But we have a good and loving Father (See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. ~I John 3:1).
We can cry out to Him today, when the sourness of life makes us pucker and weep. (I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. (2) I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble. (3) When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way... (5) I cry to you, Lord; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” ~Psalm 142:1-3, 5).
We can rest in our Lord and we can trust in Him. He will never let us down. (So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~Isaiah 41:10).
And in time/over time/when we are not looking/or just when we are pleading in prayer...God will take something quite unpleasant and change it, metamorphosize it, and reinvent it.
All along the way and today is faith.
Keep the faith today, even if life has dealt us sour limes. We have the promise of lime-ade one day (maybe today!) because of our Heavenly Father. He is always at work in us and through us.
