Ever been punched in the gut?  ...Emotionally or physically: it's painful.

Ever been stood-up?  Left out?  Ostracized or bullied?  ...The effects are like having the stomach flu without actually having the stomach flu.  These kinds of deep (emotional) hurts take everything out of us and leave us weak and listless.

Ever had people, or circumstances, or life...dim our light?  Scuff our shine?  Or douse our flame?

Sure, we have all been hit with heavy days, hardened people, or darkness...and it hurts, and it takes us down a notch.

But, if we are there today, listen up.  Buckle up,  And keep your chin up, because boy, has God got a word for us today.

Note: "Jerusalem" in this passage of Scripture refers to Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel (God's chosen city).  But I submit to you today that "Jerusalem" also refers to us, God's (chosen) people today.

Yes, Isaiah 60 speaks of Jerusalem (God's chosen city), but Yes(!), Isaiah 60 also speaks of Jerusalem (God's chosen people).

These promises and commands are spoken over us today by a God who knows us (and the hits we've taken) well:

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

(2 ) See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.  ~Isaiah 60:1-2

Thank you, Lord, for a proclamation over Your land...but also over Your people.  And we are.
We are your people, and we step into this day with You...and at Your beckoning:

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you...  ~Isaiah 60:1

We don't wake up, stand up, or show up alone today.  We do anything and we do everything today with You, Lord.
..the glory of the Lord rises upon you.  ~Isaiah 60:1

We are nothing alone...but we are not alone.  ...the glory of the Lord rises upon you...  ~Isaiah 60:1
God promises and proclaims (through His Word) that He is with us today...and more: the glory of the Lord rises upon us.

~~~
Sure, we've been knocked down a time or two, and maybe even knocked out.  Because--The world and the peoples don't want to see You in us, Lord.   The world and the peoples don't want to hear You in us, Lord.  The world and the peoples don't want to have Your Light shine into their darkness by us, Lord.
See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples...  ~Isaiah 60:1-2
But...
    We wake up with the Lord today.
    We are revived in our spirits by the Lord today.
    We can know that we needn't sulk or be spurned today.
Why?
...the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.  ~Isaiah 60:1-2
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you...  ~Isaiah 60:1
Arise....even if we have been leveled.
Arise....We have a God-given and God-ordained purpose today.
Arise....Let your light shine, because it's not our light.  The glory of the Lord rises upon you...  (Isaiah 60:1).
Everyone does not have this call.  Everyone will not arise for God today.  Everyone will not make the physical/spiritual /emotional effort to arise today and everyone does not have the glory of the Lord upon them today.
But we will arise if you say so, God.
We love You.
Blessings,
sarah
