Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. (13) Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other.  ~I Thessalonians 5:12-13

Have you hugged your pastor lately?

No--really.

Do our pastors know how much we appreciate all that they do and are to us?  God reminds us in the Bible that we should show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.

Every day should be pastor-appreciation day and today is a great day to honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work.

Hug your pastor today!

We are grateful for the youth pastors in our churches too. Even if we don't have kids: someone is investing and shedding light on God's Word and ways to the youth in our church.  Theirs is a critical and influential role in the next generation of Believers and they work hard among our youth and give spiritual guidance.  Raising Bible-aware children takes a village, and a great youth pastor.

Hug your youth pastor today!

Commercial Break:

What?  What's that?  You are not attending church in person so you don't really "have" a pastor (your leader in the Lord's work) to hug?

Go back to church!  It's time.  It's past time.  God never intended for His children to be only children.

Nowhere in the Bible does God tell us to do life on our own or to worship Him in singularity, week in and week out.  But over and over (and over), God speaks of the church meeting together and building each other up.

God is lovingly waiting to meet us at church.

    • For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”  ~Matthew 18:20
    • Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (25) And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.  ~Hebrews 10:24-25

And now back to our (hopefully) regularly-scheduled pastor appreciation show.

Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard...  ~I Thessalonians 5:12

Our pastors do work hard, and they work long, and they work almost all the time.

Have we considered/appreciated/given-credit (and grace) for the schedule that our pastors work?

Every Sunday...they work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance (I Thessalonians 5:12).

Honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work.  ~I Thessalonians 5:12

Holidays...they work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance (I Thessalonians 5:12).  Some churches have multiple and many services for Christmas Eve and Easter: Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.

Funerals...they work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance (I Thessalonians 5:12).

Weddings...they work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance (I Thessalonians 5:12).

Hospital and home visits...show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.  ~I Thessalonians 5:13

Weekends: our pastors are there.  Emergencies: our pastors are there.  When we need them: our pastors are there.

Our pastors are there for us.  Most of their duties occur during non "regularly-scheduled" work days and hours.

Thank you Pastor.

Our pastors are there for us.  Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.  ~I Thessalonians 5:13

Have you hugged your pastor today?

Best gift we could give our pastor?  God was hoping we would ask...and He puts it right there in the next breath of these verses:  And live peacefully with each other. (I Thessalonians 5:13).

We can give our pastors a hug today...by getting along with each other today.

Sheep that are not battling or gossiping about each other are a blessing to their pastor, the shepherd of their church-flock.

Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. (13) Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other.  ~I Thessalonians 5:12-13

Thank you Pastor. We wouldn't be where we are without you.

Blessings,

sarah
