Well, we celebrated our son's graduation from high school yesterday with family and friends. 

It wasn't just that he has worked hard and followed the Lord for his 18 years, but it was also that he has worked hard and followed the Lord for his 18 years.

It wasn't just the amazing family and friends that God has provided, planted, and blessed our family with that joined in our day to celebrate, but it was also the amazing family and friends that God has provided, planted, and blessed our family with that joined in our day to celebrate.

It wasn't just the variety of delicious dishes and sweets that we made and shared, but it was also the variety of delicious dishes and sweets that we made and shared.

It wasn't just the conversations, the hugs, and the bonding that occurred with life-long relations as well as neighbors and friends, but it was also the conversations, the hugs, and the bonding that occurred with life-long relations as well as neighbors and friends.

It wasn't just the electric current of faith and Jesus-joy that illuminated the day, the people, and the event, but it was also the electric current of faith and Jesus-joy that illuminated the day, the people, and the event.

Psalm 112

(1) Praise the Lord!  

How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.  

(2) Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. 

(3) They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever.  

(4) Light shines in the darkness for the godly.  They are generous, compassionate, and righteous.  

(5) Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.  (6) Such people will not be overcome by evil.  

Those who are righteous will be long remembered.  

(7) They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.  

(8) They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. 

(9) They share freely and give generously to those in need.  

Their good deeds will be remembered forever. 

They will have influence and honor.  

(10) The wicked will see this and be infuriated.  They will grind their teeth in anger;  they will slink away, their hopes thwarted.  ~Psalm 112:1-10 

I can't quite explain the favor of God, but we know when we sit beneath it.

Praise the Lord!

Like being in the shade of a tree on a sweltering day, we are provided-for and protected-by the Lord's hand in ways that we can't explain and that we don't deserve, but today we praise the Lord for all of it.  We are joyful for all of it.

It's easy and contrite and cliche to say things like, "hard work pays off", "the early bird gets the worm", and "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart (Colossians 3:23), but it is also heart-swelling, humbling, and emotionally/spiritally overwhelming to see and celebrate a young person who has made conscious decisions and sacrifices to embody the sayings of  "hard work pays off", "the early bird gets the worm", and "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart (Colossians 3:23).

It wasn't just having my pregnancy-prayers from 19 years ago answered, but it was also having my pregnancy-prayers from 19 years ago answered.   

I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. (28) So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.”  ~I Samuel 1:27-28

Today I praise the Lord for His Word, for His promises, and for His sovereignty over our lives.

Praise the Lord!  ~Psalm 112:1

I'm ashamed to admit that when I was younger, I used to read my horoscope daily.  I would look forward to opening the newspaper and "finding out what kind of day I was going to have".   Thankfully, I have matured in my wisdom and my relationship to the Bible and with Jesus Christ enough to know that depending on a horoscope to define my day is malarkey! The Spring is bringing wet, soggy days and bright, promising ones too--and I'm not just talking about the weather.   Our minds and our spirits can get dampened too.  The clouds of worry, stress and fear can hover over us, darkening our temperament, and our clarity too.  The rains of pain, anxiety and sorrow can soak us to the bone some days.  Not to mention downpours of depression and even paranoia, with and without indication or cause.  And then, even after the waters of trauma recede, that sogginess still sits within us.   Yes--the showers and storms of life can water-log our hearts and faith , and leave us in shambles.   The thought of my suffering and homelessness  is bitter beyond words.  ( 20)  I will never forget this awful time...    ( 21)  Yet I still dare to hope  when I remember this: ( 22)  The faithful love of the  Lord  never ends!   His mercies never cease....
