Corona Devo 2044
Have you ever run a timed race before? Track or cross country...a half marathon or a full one?
The start gun goes off...and you are OFF! And from that split-second on...you are ON. As in: full-go on all (mental, physical, emotional) cylinders.
Every step is connected to a thought is connected to fortitude is connected to an outcome. And the in-between (the race) requires (demands) all the strength and energy that each competitor has.
My daughter and I were blessed to enter into this runners world last weekend. We went to a local cross country invitational to cheer on some friends, and although I used to run cross country...I had forgotten.
The work and the torque. The adrenaline and the timing. The sheer fortitude and the grit of running so hard for so long.
Maybe you run races. Maybe you remember running them. The only way we can do it is by doing it with all the strength and energy that God supplies (I Peter 4:11).
To take-part in such a race, and also to witness: is both difficult and beautiful all at the same time.
Beloved, this is how God calls us to live for Him: All out. With our senses heightened and our systems full-go. All with the focused purpose of...Him, and bringing others nearer to Him.
Our Lord has gifted us each with unique ways/skills/talents/and gifts...and we are not talented so that we can shine and get the glory, no way. We are blessed by God so that we might shine for Him and give Him glory.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. (11) Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. ~I Peter 4:10-11
It is acknowledged that God gives us all different gifts. But the two gifts that Peter mentions provide the example-effort that we should apply, and it is full go:
Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you.
Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. ~I Peter 4:11
These applications remind me of the effort after the start of a race...ON, as in: full-go on all (mental, physical, emotional) cylinders. And of course Chrsit would add that when serving Him with the gifts He's given us: we should be full-go on our spiritual-cylinder too.
Let's go all in for God today!
It begins with a simple step, but our mind and thoughts have to be connected to it: God has gifted us, and whatever our gift is: use it as though God himself was doing it through us. He is!!
It's a little encouraging and a little terrifying: What are we doing with the gifts that God has given us? Today is a good day to reckon with that answer, and to get active in serving God with what He has blessed us in being able to do.
It might be speaking, it might be helping others. It might be singing or sewing or coaching.
Whatever it is that God has blessed us to do well: _______ as though God himself were _____-ing through you, and Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies (I Peter 4:11).
When we are doing what God created us to do, there is a poetry to it...a "feels right" feeling when we are engaged in it. And add-to-that the adrenaline and joy of touching others in God's Name through our gift? It's powerful, and wonderful, but not without effort.
However, the work and the torque of serving God with our gifts: awesome. The adrenaline and the timing of seeing what God does when we step forward and allow Him to work through us: outstanding.
~~~
Or...have we forgotten?
The work and the torque. The adrenaline and the timing. The sheer fortitude and the grit of serving God.
God's Word calls us to remember today. He's gifted us for His glory.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. ~I Peter 4:10
This is a given.
Let's start livin' to serve Him with our gift.
You, me, and our gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts.
Here we go: You and I today--We are OFF! And from this split-second on today...we are ON . As in: full-go on all (mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual) cylinders...for Christ!
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. (11) Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies.
