In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus.   ~I Peter 5:10

Do we know by what means Christ Jesus went to, in order for us to share in God's eternal glory?  

By what means?

By love.  

The means that God used to love us was His Son, Jesus Christ.  And God utilized Jesus (and His love for us through Jesus) in a greater way (a greater love) than we could ever give or even fully comprehend.  

The love of God by means of Christ Jesus was a love that cost God His Son, and that cost Jesus His life.  

  • In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus.   ~I Peter 5:10
  • Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  ~John 15:13

This was the means: Jesus' life and the love of God in laying down that life...for us and for our sin to be cleansed.  

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  ~John 3:16

 "In his kindness", my (NLT) Bible translation said, but I had to dig deeper and look at some other translations.  Surely there had to be more than kindness in God offering us his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus.  

And there was.  Grace.

Other translations said: But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus...  ~I Peter 5:10

Kindness was kind, but grace in this space fills it.  Because, it is only by God's grace that He could invite us to His eternal glory, and it is most certainly only grace that could make room for me and you in eternal glory because of the sacrifice of His Son. 

There is room for us in Glory because of God's grace. 

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. (2) My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (4) You know the way to the place where I am going.”  ~John 14:1-4

God has a room for us, and in his kindness (He) called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus (I Peter 5:10).  

Any way that we translate it...that's off the charts.  God had only one means that would suffice (by means of Christ Jesus), and it cost Him everything...to gain us.



Out of His kindness and grace, God gave His Son for you and me.  No strings attached, no purchase necessary: Christ was the means, and He was necessary.  

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus (I Peter 5:10).

Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad. The earth is the   Lord ’s, and everything in it.   The world and all its people belong to him.   (2)  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas  and built it on the ocean depths.   ~Psalm 24:1-2 We belong to Him, but also…our world belongs to Him: and  everything in it .   Everything.   Every tree and flower, every person, every pelican, everything.
