Corona Devo 2047

Has it been a difficult day?
A long night?
Are we in a dry spell?
Or a tough spot?

There's only one place to go (although we try many).
We can come home to God today.  Spill it.  Share it.  Let-it-all-out and tell Him what's on our mind, and in our heart, and what's crushing our spirit.

Our Lord is just waiting for us to unload, and our Heavenly Father is the key to not unraveling.
Turn to Him.  Cry to Him.  Pray His Word to Him today.

(81) I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.

(82) My eyes are straining to see your promises come true. When will you comfort me?

(83) I am shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke, but I have not forgotten to obey your decrees.

(84) How long must I wait?  When will you punish those who persecute me?

(85) These arrogant people who hate your instructions have dug deep pits to trap me.

(86) All your commands are trustworthy. Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause. (87) They almost finished me off, but I refused to abandon your commandments.

(88) In your unfailing love, spare my life; then I can continue to obey your laws.

(89) Your eternal word, O Lordstands firm in heaven. (90) Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created. (91) Your regulations remain true to this day, for everything serves your plans.

(92) If your instructions hadn’t sustained me with joy, I would have died in my misery.

(93) I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.

(94) I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments.  ~Psalm 119:81-94

I love this last line (verse 94), and reading it...speaking it...praying it to our Holy Heavenly Father is real life.  It doesn't tie everything up into a neat, perfect, idyllic little bow--because that's not how real life is.  Real life is that we are still struggling, still yearning, still hurting, still ____ (fill in your own trial): but the point is, for whatever reason and for whichever personalized-thorn is stuck in our side: life ain't a bed of roses today.

But like the Psalmist prayed: we also pray:

I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments.  ~Psalm 119:94

It's not a capstone sentiment or a concluding sentence, because the struggle is still real and present.  But for today, and for right-now: we will keep trusting.  We will keep doing what we know to do, and that's to follow God and to keep working hard at obeying His commandments.

We might not be getting the checkered flag or even the white flag (one more lap) today, but we'll keep circling the track in the name of our Lord.

The writer of Psalm 119 restates his allegiance (I am yours) and his need (rescue me) for the Lord.  We do the same today.

Father, we are Yours.  Please rescue us today.  Amen.

And in sharing our hearts with Him...He heals our hearts.  Even without fixing every scrape or healing every wound...our submission to the Lord brings an unspoken peace and an invisible healing...the healing of hope in Him.

Through our vulnerability with God, He encourages our (broken) spirit, and He lifts us up on eagle's wings.

...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.  ~Isaiah 40:31

We're hoping in the hope of You today, Lord.

Blessings,

Sarah
