Our King, as we welcome the day, or as we come up for air in the midst of it: we approach and become aware of You.

Re-center our hearts, our minds, and ourselves on You today, Lord.  We come before You humbly.

We must.

There can be no pride when we realize afresh and anew Your holiness, Lord...and our unholiness.

We submit to You.  We bow low before You, Maker of Heaven and Earth.

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God, (6) Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever...  ~Psalm 146:5-6

Like Daniel, when he came into the presence of Gabriel, (someone who looked like a man, but who was communicating on Your behalf, Lord)...we are (or should be) overcome...undone...and fully-affected by Your purity, Your presence, and Your Word, Lord.  Just as Daniel was.

As I, Daniel, was trying to understand the meaning of this vision, someone who looked like a man stood in front of me. (16) And I heard a human voice calling out from the Ulai River, “Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of his vision.”

(17) As Gabriel approached the place where I was standing, I became so terrified that I fell with my face to the ground. “Son of man,” he said, “you must understand that the events you have seen in your vision relate to the time of the end.”

(18) While he was speaking, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground. But Gabriel roused me with a touch and helped me to my feet.

(19) Then he said, “I am here to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath. What you have seen pertains to the very end of time.   ~Daniel 8:15-19

Lord, Daniel saw Your messenger face-to-face, and it caused him to fall on his face.

We should be the same, if not physically...then spiritually and faith-fully.

May the Holy Bible cause us to pause, reflect, and genuflect.
...To bow, or even lay with our face to the ground as we receive Your Word, Lord...and recognize its value and high-worth over our lives.

Your Word is alive and holy, Lord.  May we never become desensitized to how very sensational it is.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  ~Hebrews 4:12

Lord, let Your Word and the realization that You are speaking to us sink in today.  I pray that we would sink-to-our-knees in response today.  Like Daniel, may we be immediately affected as we hear from You.

As Gabriel approached the place where I was standing, I became so terrified that I fell with my face to the ground...

(18) While he was speaking, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground. But Gabriel roused me with a touch and helped me to my feet.  ~Daniel 8:17-18

God and His messengers and His message are powerful.  If we can actually absorb the fact that the God of the universe is speaking to us through the Bible, then those words...His Words become powerful and life changing.

Lord, we come before you as we journey to Christmas, the anniversary of Your birth...and we humble ourselves.

We must.

In order to truly understand, comprehend, and absorb You and the miracle of You and Your birth...we must stoop, kneel, submit, humble, fall with face to the ground (Daniel 8:17).

Lord, today we come before You with our face to the ground.  No pride.  No strength of our own, but we depend on Yours.

Help us, Lord.  Not because we are worthy.
We are not.
But because You are worthy.  Of all honor and glory and praise.

“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”  ~Revelation 4:12

We (without You) are nothing, but we (with You) can be anything today.

You know our hearts, Lord.  Purify any unrighteousness in us, Father.
 Jesus, rescue us.
Touch us.  Provide as only You can.  Speak to us through Your Word.

Amen.

~~~
We come humbly before Your today.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.  ~Psalm 95:6
