Corona Devo 3002
We have entered December..and collectively...we journey toward the manger together.
It is an annual pilgrimage that I love each year: reading the Bible verses foretelling and narrating the events of the birth of our Savior, who chose to be born in that manger in Bethlehem.
Let us go to the house of the Lord together this season.
Let us read and receive His deep love for us, and let us soak in His sacrifice at the start and finish of His earthly expedition as a man...even though He is God.
Yes, all of us walk toward Bethlehem this month...toward Jesus...toward Truth. But many have no idea what that means.
Let us invite them in to the true meaning of Christmas.
Let us go...to Bethlehem together. Let us introduce Jesus to our friends.
Let us go to the house of the Lord.
They will rejoice (as we do) when invited-in, and this is the perfect time of year for it.
You (simply) can't avoid Christmas this month. It's everywhere: in stores, in yards, in decorations, in light displays, in movies and t.v., and in recipes and food.
Let us go to Christmas!
Let us go...and we know the (life-giving) secret: Let us go to Jesus!
This is the message and the joy that we (as God's sons and daughters) have all year round, but this time of year invites us to invite.
People are seeing "Christmas" everywhere, let's invite them (let us go to) the true Christmas: Jesus.
As I read about Jerusalem in Psalm 122, my heart made a parallel to Jesus in the manger (born to die for you and me).
Of course, Psalm 122 is literally speaking about the city of Jerusalem, God's holy city, and the Psalmist invites people to Jerusalem and to champion Jerusalem.
Psalm 122
(1) I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
(2) And now here we are, standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem.
(3) Jerusalem is a well-built city; its seamless walls cannot be breached. (4) All the tribes of Israel—the Lord’s people—make their pilgrimage here. They come to give thanks to the name of the Lord, as the law requires of Israel.
(5) There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
(6) Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. (7) May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”
(8) For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “May you have peace.” (9) For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem. ~Psalm 122:1-9
~~~
We (as God's children) champion Jerusalem (God's holy city).
We are also invited at this time of year..to Christmas, and...Brothers and Sisters: let us champion the main character of Christmas: Jesus Christ.
Let us go and invite people to Christ this season. Let us invite them to the house of the Lord, and to an understanding of Him. They will rejoice with those who say to them, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
As we journey (in Scripture/in songs/in movies/at church) to Bethlehem this Christmas season, take someone with you.
Invite others to the true meaning of Christmas, and invite someone to the house of the Lord with us.
I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” ~Psalm 122:1
Let us go to the house of the Lord together this Christmas season.
Blessings,
sarah
