A New Year beckons.  What tasks are on our docket?   What endeavors will we embark upon? 

What are your goals? 
What are mine? 

Have we made a list of resolutions?  Aspirations?  Intentions?  And dreams for the New Year?  

We need goals.  We need a directive.  

What do we think? 
What do we want?
What do we want to do and be in the coming days and year?

Have we considered that our resolutions for the new year should not be ours, but should be God's?

A new year does beckon.  God does have tasks on our docket.  The Lord has called us to embark upon His endeavors this year.

Nevermind our goals for the New Year, what are God's?
Brothers and Sisters in Christ: He has resolutions, aspirations, intentions, dreams, goals and directives for us.  

Here are our royal New Year's resolutions, as set by the King Himself.  
The Sovereign Lord has called us to specific action this Year.  His (Holy) Spirit is on us.

To everyone of us who has claimed Christ as our Savior and the Lord as our God: He has anointed us to proclaim good news to the poor this year.  
...The poor in joy, the poor in friends, the poor in joy, the poor in spirit: our resolution is to proclaim good news to the poor this year.

God's goals for us this year include binding up the brokenhearted.  
Let's seek the brokenhearted.  Let's see the brokenhearted.  Let's comfort and be companions to the brokenhearted  this year.

Kingdom tasks for the year two thousand twenty five call us to take part in proclaiming freedom for the captives and releasing from darkness for the prisoners.
The Bible is God's Word and it speaks truth and provides freedom and release from this world's darkness.  Proclaim it, partners-in-the-faith!

Our Heavenly Father has another endeavor on this year's docket for us, and it is to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God.  
We cannot have one without the other, and let's be sure that we're on the right side, am I right?  
This year could be the year of the Lord’s favor!  Simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to take part!  And if not, then the vengeance of our God is on the docket.  Don't say that our Lord didn't warn us, but also, I don't want to say (to Him) that I didn't proclaim His good news to the poor.

Another resolution is resolving to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve.
Sorrow makes no distinction between rich and poor, young or old.  People are hurting everywhere we turn, and followers-of-Christ hold the only balm to aid the broken in our heart: Jesus Christ.  

He is the balm in Gilead,  (Is there no balm in Gilead?  Is there no physician there?  Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?  Jeremiah 8:22).  There IS healing for His people, and we are called to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve this year.

Some people believe that New Year's resolutions are all bunk, but not if they are listed by the Lord.  
Nevermind our goals for the New Year, what are God's new year's resolutions for us?

Let's get busy in this new year.  We've got a lot on the docket! 


The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 

(2) to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God,

to comfort all who mourn, (3) and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  ~Isaiah 61:1-3

It’s never too late to turn to the Lord.   And--it’s never too late to turn back to the Lord.   Do we GET IT?   King Hezekiah GOT IT.   The people in his area (Israel) had not been following the Lord, and they had fallen away from the (God-ordained) traditions that the Lord had designed to connect His people with Himself,  like going to church (Temple), and like celebrating the festival of Passover.  So they sent a proclamation throughout all Israel...inviting everyone to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover of the  Lord , the God of Israel. Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad. The earth is the   Lord ’s, and everything in it.   The world and all its people belong to him.   (2)  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas  and built it on the ocean depths.   ~Psalm 24:1-2 We belong to Him, but also…our world belongs to Him: and  everything in it .   Everything.   Every tree and flower, every person, every pelican, everything. How are we responding to that glorious Truth today?   Can we praise Him today?  Can we acknowledge and absorb (and respond!) to the awesome Truth that we belong to Him :  the Creator of all things, and our Creator?   He laid the earth’s foundation ...and (even)  the earth  knows that it belongs to him ...
