Corona Devo 3036

Last year as my husband and I sat in the waiting room at the hospital, and our son lay on the operating table, undergoing a major surgery, a sister-in-Christ of mine texted me a single sentence.  But the application of her short note covered me with God's truth, comfort, and peace for that entire day.

"Praying Psalm 91 over you today."

I have been blessed many times since that day to rest in the beautiful, comforting, peaceful words of Psalm 91, and we don't have to be in a hospital waiting room or on a surgery table for these special and powerful words to apply to our lives and our hearts.

Close your eyes.

Let's read God's Word with our heart today.  Let's dwell with Him today. Let's rest with Him today. Let's trust Him today.  

He will save us and shelter us, and be faithful to us today.  For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go (Psalm 91:11).

Those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  ~Psalm 91:1

Lord, let us dwell in Your shelter today.  You ARE our shelter, and even on prideful days when we don't seek it--You are our covering.  We will choose to come under You today.  We desire to dwell in your shelter with You, Father.

Can we find rest in Your shadow today, Father?

Your answer is, "Yes".

Declare (proclaim!) our faith to ourselves today!  (Let's not worry about what anyone else thinks or believes.)  "This (we!) declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.  ~Psalm 91:2

Tell ourselves that we WILL trust our Lord over our day and over our mind and over our trials today. 

This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.   ~Psalm 91:2

He alone is our refuge and fortress, and our God, in whom we trust.

What do we face today?

Whatever it is: we face it in faith.

For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. (4) He will cover you with his feathers.  He will shelter you with his wings.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection.   ~Psalm 91:3

Our God will rescue us today.  Our God will protect us today.  Our Lord will cover us today.  The Most High will shield and shelter us today.

Our Lord knows the adversities and adversaries that we face today, and He protects us from them.

(5) Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. 

(6) Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

 (7) Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. (8) Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.  ~Psalm 91:5-8

We can trust Him in this.  And we can trust Him to prevail over the worry and anxiety and intimidations of today.  We must trust Him, and we can trust Him.

If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, (10) no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.

(11) For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. (12) They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. 

(13) You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

(14) The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name. 

(15) When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue and honor them. 

(16) I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”  ~Psalm 91:9-16

Are we getting this?  
God's promises spoken to us in the Bible (Psalm 91) are outstanding and fear-killing and life-giving.  

Do we love the Lord?
YES!

That's all that He asks and desires of us today.  And because we love Him, He rescues us today, protects us today, answers us when we call on Him today.  The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name (Psalm 91:14).

Because we acknowledge His holy Name, the Lord will be with us in troubles today and He will show us salvation tomorrow.  All glory to you, God.

It’s never too late to turn to the Lord.   And--it’s never too late to turn back to the Lord.   Do we GET IT?   King Hezekiah GOT IT.   The people in his area (Israel) had not been following the Lord, and they had fallen away from the (God-ordained) traditions that the Lord had designed to connect His people with Himself,  like going to church (Temple), and like celebrating the festival of Passover.  So they sent a proclamation throughout all Israel...inviting everyone to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover of the  Lord , the God of Israel. Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad. The earth is the   Lord ’s, and everything in it.   The world and all its people belong to him.   (2)  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas  and built it on the ocean depths.   ~Psalm 24:1-2 We belong to Him, but also…our world belongs to Him: and  everything in it .   Everything.   Every tree and flower, every person, every pelican, everything.
