As the man casted
and
reeled.
Casted
and
reeled
and worked for a fish, the blue heron hoped for one too. The blue heron wasn't stressing, he wasn't worried, he wasn't hurried.
He was stoic. He was patient. He was trusting that a fish would come and that the fisherman would bless him by it.
It was the peaceful beauty of the bird that caught my eye, but it was his peaceful faith and patience in the fisherman that left an impression on me.
...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ~Isaiah 40:31

We can be still and patient in our Lord today.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! ~Psalm 46:10
We can be at peace today, because God provides us His peace today.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (4) Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. ~Isaiah 26:3-4
We need not pour our time or emotions into stress or worry today--that will produce and affect nothing positive, and it is not God's will for us.
- Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (7) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6-7
- “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? (26) Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? (27) Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?... (31) So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ (32) For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. (33) But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (34) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. ~Matthew 6:25-27, 31-34

Just as the blue heron stood in quiet faith next to the fisherman, we can be stoic and stand firm in our faith in our Lord.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (11) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (13) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (14) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, (15) and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. ~Ephesians 6:10-15
We can be patient (like the blue heron) today. We can trust that if we will trust in the Lord today, then He will work the other details of our lives out.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. (8) They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” ~Jeremiah 17:7-8
We can trust in knowing that the Lord will care-for and provide-for our needs.
But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:19
It was the peaceful beauty of the blue heron that caught my eye, but it was his peaceful faith and patience in the fisherman that left an impression on me.
May we rest in our Creator today. He knows our needs and He blesses our patient faith in Him. Amen.
Blessings,
