What if the Lord is not on our side today?
What if...
What if...
How often (a day!) and in our lives, do we worry about the "what if"?
What if the Lord had not been on our side?
Let all Israel repeat: (2) What if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us?
(3) They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger.
(4) The waters would have engulfed us; a torrent would have overwhelmed us.
(5) Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives. ~Psalm 124:1-5
But (repeat after me...), Let all Israel repeat: the Lord WAS on our side yesterday.
Let all Israel (us!) repeat: the Lord IS on our side today.
Remember what He's done for us and we can (then) also trust that He is on our side again today.
~~~
What are our worries/anxieties/fears today?
- People attacking us?
- The waters (of life) engulfing us?
- The world's torrents and raging waters overwhelming us?
Repeat after me, fellow Christ-follower's: the Lord is on our side today...just as He was yesterday. Remember?
As we wake today... As we look toward today... As we pray for today... As we enter today... As we possibly become pestered by the anxieties of today...
Remember yesterday: The Lord was on our side then, just as He is now.
(6) Praise the Lord, who did not let their teeth tear us apart!
(7) We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free!
(8) Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. ~Psalm 124:6-8
Every. Single. Day.
Repeat after me, everybody (Let all Israel repeat): What if the Lord had not been on our side?
He was! And...He is!
Praise the Lord! He will not let their teeth tear us apart today. Praise the Lord! He will allow us to escape like a bird from a hunter’s trap today. Praise the Lord! He has broken the trap for us and we are free in Him, and by Him, and through Him today!
How do we know?
Because we remember how He helped us yesterday (Psalm 124:1-8).
