Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for god gives rest to his loved ones. Psalm 127:1-2
2Did anyone else need to hear this from the Lord today?
Meetings, appointments, events.
But what is the base of our house? From where comes our foundation?
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. ~Psalm 127:1
God is not calling us out today, rather, he is clarifying.
Who or what is the door, and what do we allow to come through it?
And if it is us, then we are laboring in vain.
I doubt that a lazy person would even care about this verse, but for those of us who do work, the idea of laboring in vain is painful. (Doing-the-work is difficult enough, but doing-the-work in vain MUST cause us to reconsider things.)
Reconsider today.

Sometimes we get off track...even accidentally, or with otherwise good-intentions. We start off seeking the Lord, but life and stuff/things/schedules get in the way and get in our day, and all of a sudden (for days and months and years), we are working so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat.

God's got us, Beloved.
Whatever we are working so hard (in our mind/body/or soul) about---God is in control of it. And of our worry/planning/fixing/stressing: God says, "It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night...for god gives rest to his loved ones" (Psalm 127:2).
Let's give it to God today...whatever "it" is in our lives.
And He will receive it. And (in doing so), God will give rest to us, his loved ones.
Rest? God gives rest to his loved ones?
Yes.
YES!
He does.
Today, let's take a step back and let the Lord build our house, so that we don't labor in vain.
Today, let's give God guard over our city, lest we stand watch in vain.
Today, (breathe), we can work hard, but we do not have to work so hard from early morning until late at night...
Today, God gives rest to his loved ones, and that's us.
Today, let's let God be our builder, our guard, and our grantor of rest.

Amen! So much to think about!
