Have you ever tried to start your car and the battery was dead? There is a disconnect, and no connection where there used to be one. But a dead battery can be jumped, charged, or replaced, and the engine will run once again, good as new with all cylinders firing.
But I think we all know that (frustrating/helpless) feeling of loss when a vehicle battery is dead.

Sometimes we sit here with You, Lord...and the Bible is open, and our hearts are also, but the connection isn't there. I relent in using the word "dead', but there is definitely a disconnect.
Be honest. It happens.
And yet, like an engine that won't turn over...nothing.
What if there is no connection today?
I think we all know that (frustrating/helpless) feeling of loss when we cannot find a connection to God's Word.
Admit it: Once in a while, we open the Bible and our battery is dead.
What should we do if we feel no connection today?
Keep reading. Read the Bible today anyway, even if or when there is no spark or fireworks. Read it today and tomorrow too. And then read it the next "today" and the next "tomorrow" too.
Whether we feel it or not, whether a lightning bolt of connection strikes our spirit or not: don't stop reading and don't stop believing.
We can realize and recognize that some days the connection is cold, but we must stay tethered to our Lord anyways.
Lord, we will stick with You and Your Word today..
The Lord our God, the Lord is one. (5) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (6) These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
(7) Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
(8) Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. (9) Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. ~Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Even if we are not feeling a connection to the Word of God today...keep reading the Word of God today.

Is it the Lord separating from us?
Is it sin?
Is it ___?
What is it? Why do we have a dead battery some days when we delve into the Bible?
Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, (18) for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. (19) So that your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today, even you. ~Proverbs 22:17-19
There is much wisdom wielded in these few verses, but for the times when we can't strike a spiritual spark, there is a one-to-grow-on tip nestled in these nuggets of wisdom: apply your heart to what I teach.
Stick with it. Keep reading the Bible and keep seeking God's presence as we do. Apply your heart to what I teach.
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. ~Psalm 119:130
The wise prevail through great power, and those who have knowledge muster their strength. ~Proverbs 24:5

Just as a dead battery can be jumped, charged, or replaced, and the engine will once again run as good as new: just because we might not be feeling a "connection" to the Bible does not mean that we have lost connection to the One who wrote it.
The Lord will never abandon His children, or their desire to know Him more.
What should we do if we feel no connection today?
Keep reading. Read the Bible today anyway, even if and when there is no spark or fireworks. Read it today and tomorrow too. And then read it the next "today" and the next "tomorrow" too.
Keep calling to Him, and He will answer us.
“This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: (3) ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ ~Jeremiah 33:2-3
Blessings,
Such wise words-thank you!
