I'm no meteorologist, but this is the coldest and snowiest Ohio winter that I can remember. We have been covered in snow and below average (and below freezing!) temperatures for weeks.

We've had a foot of snow for as long as I can remember: the ground is buried, we often wake up to driveways and front steps that are buried, and some days--we feel buried.

But today, I saw a sign of life poking through the snow.  No, it was not a miracle daffodil (one of the first flowers of spring) mistaking February for April.  And no, it wasn't a little woodland animal poking its head about the drifts after awakening from a hibernating winter slumber.

It was neither flora not fauna...but it was an unmistakable and telltale sign of life, peeping its head up and over and through the harsh cold surroundings.

The sign of life that I saw sticking out of calf deep snow said: JN 11:25-26 on it.

Perhaps a cryptic message to some, I knew just how to interpret it, and you probably do too.

I looked up the verses of John Chapter 11, and verses twenty-five and twenty-six as soon as I was able.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; (26) and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  ~John 11:25-26

These verses are a sign of life peeping up out of the frozen areas in our life...and our world.  Let them worm-their-way into us and remind and refresh our hearts of the hope that we have today in Christ.

A sign stuck in a front yard during the middle of winter doesn't change our circumstances or the thermometer, but read the life-giving words that sprout from the verses on ths sign...and we just might experience a spiritual thaw today.

Jesus is reminding us of who He is.
When life is heavy...
When we are buried...
When circumstances seem frozen...
When death describes us more than life...

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life....  ~John 11:25

Jesus is it!  He is our answer to our sin-problem here on earth...praise the Lord!  But after that resurrection (from our sin), Jesus ain't done.  He is our Savior and resurrects us over and over and over throughout our lives here on earth.

What's burying us?
Jesus resurrects us from that!

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life....  ~John 11:25

What's burying us?
Jesus doesn't just resurrect us from that...He gives us life after it, and in spite of it.  ...Jesus is the life!!

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; (26) and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  ~John 11:25-26

Jesus saying to us that he is the resurrection and the life is the sign poking out of the frozen tundra of our lives today.  We can read and acknowledge the claim.  It might even bring a lift to our mind, or warm our chilled spirit.

But to receive the true roots of this resurrection and the life flower, we have to work our way down beneath the surface.

The JN 11:25-26 sign proclaimed a truth, but to experience that truth, we will have to move past the proclamation and we will have to believe it.
Do we?

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; (26) and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  ~John 11:25-26

Do you believe this? (John 11:26)

Jesus is asking us that big question today.
Christ is far-more than a psychologist.  The Lord knows our inner thoughts and desires even more intimately than we do.

He knows when we are buried.  He knows when our faith is frozen.  He is always aware when we are covered and almost smothered by life and its circumstances or people.

And today, through His Word, the Bible, God gives us a sign of life poking through: JN 11:25-26.
Or: John 11:25-26, if we prefer.

These verses are an unmistakable and telltale sign of the life we can have in Christ.  But...will we believe?
... and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  ~John 11:26

Today...see the sign of life (Jesus!) poking through the buried and the frozen areas of our lives.

If we have been waiting for a sign...this is it.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; (26) and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  ~John 11:25-26

Jesus is the resurrection and the life

He brings us life!!!

Do we believe this today?

Blessings,
