Sometimes, what feels like an affront to us can be part of God's good plan in the long run.

Have you heard of the term "photobombing"?

It describes someone who (purposely) inserts themself into (someone else's) picture/photo without consent. If someone dives into the foreground, or hops into the background of our picture...we've been photobombed!


Along these (photobombing) lines, a few weeks ago at school, it was club picture day, meaning that at certain times of the day, each high school group would gather for group pictures of their club (i.e. Spanish Club, Drama Club, Fellowship of Christian Students).

Apparently it was decided that the "cool" (student) thing to do would be to photobomb club pictures. A repeating group of students showed up for many club-pictures of clubs that they had never attended, but that they would now be memorialized in the yearbook photos for.

They photobombed(!), and our Christian student group and many other clubs took their photos with some "extra members".

It's high school. It's a small prank. It's photobombing of sorts, and, what are you going to do?

Until one of the lead teachers found out.

Apparently the photographed photobombers were held accountable, getting called to the office and getting called on the carpet. They were given the options of (1) Attending group meetings for the groups that they had been photographed with, (2) Doing community service hours, or (3) Paying a fine.

Well, guess what? There were a number of new faces present this week at the 6:45 AM Fellowship of Christian students meeting at school...all glory to God!

All glory to God for a teacher towing-the-line with prankster students, and (cause and effect aside): the bottom line is that new people heard the Gospel of Christ as told by one of their peers that morning!

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.  ~Genesis 50:20

It's always the perfect time to share simply, yet boldly about the truth of Christ, and we never know whose ears might be pricked to hear that life is better when we live it with Jesus. I'm praying that a photobomber was listening!

What began with jokester photos turned into an opportunity to hear God's Truth.

God beckons us today. We all have a choice today...and an invitation:

Now this is what the Lord says to the family of Israel: “Come back to me and live! (5) Don’t worship at the pagan altars at Bethel; don’t go to the shrines at Gilgal or Beersheba.  ~Amos 5:4-5

What are we doing wrong today? Turn from it, or otherwise...

For the people of Gilgal will be dragged off into exile, and the people of Bethel will be reduced to nothing.   ~Amos 5:5-6

Those students on club picture day weren't the only ones photobombing.

Are we photobombing God and His ways?  

(Be honest.)  Are we purposely inserting ourselves into areas where God belongs?  Are we living-life and making-decisions with our gain in mind, instead of following the Lord's will and giving Him the glory?

He calls us on the carpet today.  And He also calls us back to Him.  

Now this is what the Lord says to the family of Israel: “Come back to me and live!

(6) Come back to the Lord and live!  ~Amos 5:4-6

Everyone belongs in the family-photo of God. We are all His children. No photobombers allowed because it is an oxymoronic term to our Lord. Everyone who welcomes Him, He welcomes.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  ~Galatians 3:28

Okay...everyone now...say CHEESE!

Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad.
