I woke up this morning still full from last night's food. Supper? I perhaps, but my late-night sweets snacking has become an issue--for me.
It's too much! And I know it.
I need a cleanse!
Have you been snacking too much too? Or maybe it's media, or spending, or swearing, or working. Have we gotten unhealthy in a certain area of our lives?
We need a cleanse!
Lord, clean us out of our bad habits today, and cleanse us of selfishness and impurity too. We desire to be clean before You.
Pure...at Your feet.
Holy--as we approach Your cross and the account of Your sacrifice for us there.
Cleanse us, Father.
Amen.
The naturalists call it a "cleanse" when we abstain from most food in order to clear-the-path, restart, and reboot our intestines, our digestive tract, and our health. They say a cleanse works.
Give us a spiritual cleanse today, O Great Physician.
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. (3) He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. (4) He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. (5) He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! ~Psalm 103:2-5
We say too much. Put a seal over our lips today, Lord. Set a guard over our mouth,
Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. ~Psalm 141:3
We see too much. Guard our eyes and innocence today, Father.
Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. (23) But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. ~Matthew 6:22-23
We judge too much. Give us a fair and understanding heart today, Lord.
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. (2) For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.(3) “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (4) How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?(5) You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. ~Psalm 141:1-5
We do too much. Help us to learn to value being still with You today, Lord.
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. (39) And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. (40) But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
(41) And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. (42) But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” ~Luke 10:38-42
Cleanse us today of our insincere areas of faith.
“I hate all your show and pretense—the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies. (22) I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings. I won’t even notice all your choice peace offerings. (23) Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. (24) Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living. ~Amos 5:21-24

We know of our "too much" areas, Lord, and You are well-acquainted with them too.
We must be cleansed by coming to You, and we can only be cleansed (mind, body and spirit) by coming to You today.
It's time for a cleanse today.
And the Lord always cleanses when we ask.
- “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. (20) He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. (21) Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. ~Psalm 107:19-21
- Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise. ~Jeremiah 7:14
