Ever think about what heaven will be like?
I do.
Will we see Believers that we knew? Will we eat good food? Will our pets be up there? What will the weather be like?
Imagine it...
But we do not have to imagine, because God has written to us in the Bible about what we will see in heaven. The Lord has given us a preview. A read-through.
(1) Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”
(2) And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it.
(3) The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow. ~Revelation 4:1-3
Sidenote: We have to put ourselves in the mind-set (and knowledge/intellect) of the apostle John, over 2,000 years ago. How would he describe the dazzling nature and features and multi-faceted-light/energy/holiness levels of viewing (in a vision) the throne of God? What words could a man of two thousand years ago use? To what could he compare the "shining" nature of Christ?
I expect that the most beautiful and exquisite properties and colors that John had ever viewed came from gemstones, and this is probably why He compared the throne of God to brilliant gemstones such —like jasper, carnelian, and the glow of an emerald.
(4) Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads.
(5) From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder.
And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God.
(6) Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal.
In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back. (7) The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight.
(8) Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. ~Revelation 4:4-11
I can't imagine, but God gives us His Word so that we might. However you picture all of this in your mind: Yes.
We will know for sure one day, but for today, your image is as good as mine, and the main thing is that the Bible gives us the image to imagine.
And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
(9) Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), (10) the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, (11) “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” ~Revelation 4:1-11
What will heaven be like?
This.
The weather will not matter and (almost impossible for us to understand/accept) those gathered with us there will not matter either.
The Lord will matter. All day long and all night long: The Lord will matter.
All that will matter in heaven...is the Lord and our (continued and ongoing) privilege of worshiping Him.
And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”...
And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, (11) “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” ~Revelation 4:8, 10-11
We do have a peak into heaven, and what we see is continual praise and acknowledgement of who God is, and the worship that He is due...and the worship that He will receive.
Ever think about what heaven will be like?
We can.
Blessings,
sarah
