Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
(4) Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, (5) to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. ~Titus 2:3-5

I am truly grateful for the example of the older women (some older-in-years, and some older-in-faith) in my life. (I hope you know who you are!)
Their example encourages my ego when I get too "me" focused.
Their influence shapes my spirit, so that I know what a Godly woman looks/acts/thinks like.
Their wisdom washes over me when I get riled up.
Their influence shapes my spirit, so that I know what a Godly woman looks/acts/thinks like.
Their wisdom washes over me when I get riled up.
And their foundation in God and His Word keeps me tethered to the Lord because if they can live for Him, then I can too.

This world offers a plethora of advice on how to be a good wife/mother/woman, but the self-help books on the shelves at the library and in Barnes and Noble Bookstores don't tell us what the Bible tells us.
The world and our culture preach principles that oppose what the Bible says.
And it is up to us to decide who we will trust....Who we will ask...Who we will take advice from....
And what rules and goals will govern our marriages, our families and our lives. Will we seek (and choose) the ways of the world or the laws of our Lord?
Will we decide to be reverent in the way we live today?
Will we discipline our minds and tongues not to be slanderers today?
Will we reject the impulse to be addicted to much wine today?
Will we esteem to teach what is good today?
Will we desire and work to love our husbands today?
Will we not just discipline and care for...but will we love our children today?
Will we aspire to be self-controlled and pure today?
Will we be content and take initiative to be busy at home today?
To be kind today?
Will we adhere to God's good order-of-operations and (thus) be subject to our husbands today?
If we will seek God's face and His foundation in our daily lives and decisions, then no one will malign the word of God because of us today. That's a good goal.

How do we figure out how to live, and do, and be all of these things?
I am truly grateful for the older women in my life who model Godly principles for me and others. These are the women with intact marriages, functioning families, and full hearts. And if any of these areas are lacking, they partner with the Lord and His Word for strength and direction.
Their commitment, contentment, patience, peace and (above all) love comes from somewhere...and it comes from the Lord and the Bible (His Word).
The older women of faith urge me (sometimes in word, sometimes in prayer, sometimes in example, and sometimes in all of these) to love my husband and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to my husband.
Why?
So that we might live lives worthy of being called God's daughters and so that no one will malign the word of God because of us (Titus 2:5).

I am truly grateful for the example of the older women (in-years, and in-faith) in my life. (I hope you know who you are!)
Thank you for urging me on as a woman of Christ: your impressions and imprints and influence are making a critical difference on me and others.
Thank you for urging us, older women. The need for Godly wives, moms and women is urgent, and the Biblical endorsements within the verses of Titus 2:3-5 are counter-cultural and lesser-known, but they will bring life and fullness and purpose and blessing upon the head and homes of the women who adhere to them.
May we be those women.
May we urge the younger women to be Godly, and may we care-for and be grateful-for the older women of faith who have made a spiritual impact on us.
Thank you, Lord, for Your Word!
And thank You, Lord, for the older women living out Your Word and urging younger women to do the same. We are truly grateful for their example and influence and their proof of faith.
