We finally had a morning where the temperatures moved above the forties and I decided to crack the window over my kitchen sink...just to hear the morning birds chattering and to breathe a little fresh air.

But as I inhaled, my lungs and my heart filled up with the delicious scent of lavender lilacs, and my mood instantly was uplifted.  My lips curved up in a smile and the day was better...just because of those lilacs and their amazing, pleasing, pleasant aroma.

I wonder...do we (you and I), or could we...have that same "lilac effect" on the people that we encounter and engage with today?

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.  ~II Corinthians 2:15

We have to begin by having Christ within us...to fill us up with His Spirit, so that we might release His fragrance.  But, we have the Lord, don't we Brothers and Sisters in Christ?  Or--I should say, He has us.

We know and love the Lord, and so then our work (our call) becomes sharing Him: His love, His Word, His acceptance, His hope, His fragrance to others.

But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased (16) to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles..  ~Galatians 1:15-16

Let's be that bud today...that lilac bud.  What if the blossom of our faith in the Lord filled someone's heart all the way up today?

Would it be far-fetched for others to desire to inhale the deliciousness of our love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)?

Just as the scent of lilacs changed my temperament, the love of Christ and the truth of God can change and uplift a mood instantly.  We have experienced this.  Let's try it out on someone today.

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.  ~II Corinthians 2:15

Today is not set in stone, today can be changed in a breath.  A deep breath of Jesus can alter our plans and feelings today...and we can (in turn) breathe that breath of life into others.

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  ~Psalm 118:24

I cut some lilac branches and made a lavender bouquet for my desk at work.  Half-way through my commute to work I realized that the inside of my car was filled with the aroma of lilacs.  The air was thick with the scent of lilacs and I was literally breathing them in and out...and I loved it.

I wonder...could you and I have the same effect on others for God as we represent Him today?

Let's try.

I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you. (2) May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.  ~Psalm 141:1-2
