What's the biggest thing you've ever built?  Maybe a Lego creation years ago or a snow fort?  We are reminded today of Noah, who had no knowledge of building boats, and yet when God told him to construct a huge one, He said "Yes" without any experience, and without hesitation because He trusted God more than himself.   They say that  measurements of Noah's ark were  1 ½ football fields long.  Now that's a big boat, especially when you don't know what you are doing. But the wild thing is... we  don't have to know what we are doing, if we are following God's instructions.   Are we following God's instructions today and in our lives?   Sin and selfishness suck us in.  The temptation to break God's rules and do what makes us  happy (instead of Him) is nothing new, and it's called sin.     Adam and Eve weren’t the only ones to sin, they were just the first.  It happens to us when we break the rules t...

2 + 2 equals 4... 3 + 3 equals 6... As I listened to my nephew practice his math facts, I was reminded of the simple math required in each equation to reach the answer.  And the two numbers add up to only one answer. It reminded me of the scriptures I had read this morning ( 2 Samuel 22:26-30 ) .  Living God's way and being led by His Word (the Bible) gives us a straight answer, clear direction and a true equation for living God's way.  There is only One Answer , and it's Jesus.  Following Jesus means following the Bible, and God gives us "simple math" to find the best  answer for whatever choices/questions/quandaries that we face. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have we hit a wall today?  (In health, in schedule, in emotion... in faith ?) Do we feel like darkness has set in?   Then it's time to come back to the basics.   Simple Scriptures can provide complex solutions to our hearts and minds for today.   The Lord lights up our darkness and ...

Has the time come ? And what should we be doing in the meantime? The Bible gives a few "signs" that we can look for as we draw "near" to the "last days". And as we read Scripture/view today's headlines/and interact with those living among us...many of the "signs" seem to be pointing in the same Biblical direction: You will hear of wars and rumors of wars...  ~Matthew 24:6 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.  ( 2)  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  ( 3)  without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,  ( 4)  treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God...  ~2 Timothy 3:1-4 If these are "the signs"... has the time come ? I'm not sure, and th e Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times (Acts 1:7) , but w...

What do we do when chaos ensues all around us? Do we get caught up in the frenzy of it? Do we choose a side and dive in? Or do we allow God's wisdom to prevail in us and the situation and cut-off the nonsense at the head? ~~~~~~ I've been on all sides of chaos (you probably have been too), but our best outcomes are produced when we keep calm and let wisdom win. There was a wise woman mentioned in the Old testament Book of 2 Samuel. We are never told her name, but rather, she was labeled simply as "a wise woman ". (I would be blessed if people forgot my name and knew me/called-me-by only as this as well.) The background story is that there was a "bad guy" named Sheba who had gathered an army in rebellion and opposition to King David. ( Sidenote: Sometimes we might feel like we are under constant attack, but have you ever counted David's adversaries? He was just trying to do the best he could in serving the Lord with his life, but he often encoun...

Do we have a "score to settle"? Or do we have a family/friend/professional feud that has been going on longer than the Hatfield's and the McCoy's? While our "flesh" and pride may find strength in "standing firm" and "not relenting", God's word reminds us that we do not gain from maintaining a hard heart, infact, have you noticed (yet) that grudges/separation/hatred cause a famine in our spirits? Staying angry/bitter/entitled slowly steals God's gifts of joy/contentment/love/gratitude from our souls. The opposing forces cannot thrive together, and so we must choose which one we will "feed". Jesus teaches forgiveness and the relief of letting "the feud" go will be a feast for our hearts, minds, and spirit. ~~~~~~ King David came into reign after King Saul, and in doing so, he inherited some negative consequences of Saul, who was not a man who whole-heartedly lived and ruled in God's favor. But King Davi...

What was your favorite subject/activity in school?  Gym?  Student Council president?  History?  Typing?  Religion?  Or just being one of the crowd? God's got a place for you in service to Him today. Each of us have different tendencies, preferences, comfort-levels, or--as the Bible would put it: "gifts", and our job is to step up or fall-in-line and join His ranks as we have been equipped. I was reminded of this as I read about some of the men serving King David.  "All the king's men" each had different jobs and they were each valuable to the king in different ways.  The same is true for us today as we serve the Lord.   Now Joab was the commander of the army of Israel. Benaiah son of Jehoiada was captain of the king’s bodyguard.  ( 24)  Adoniram was in charge of forced labor. Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the royal historian.  ( 25)  Sheva was the court secretary. Zadok and Abiathar were the priests.  ( 26)...
