2 + 2 equals 4...

3 + 3 equals 6...

As I listened to my nephew practice his math facts, I was reminded of the simple math required in each equation to reach the answer.  And the two numbers add up to only one answer.

It reminded me of the scriptures I had read this morning (2 Samuel 22:26-30).  Living God's way and being led by His Word (the Bible) gives us a straight answer, clear direction and a true equation for living God's way.  There is only One Answer, and it's Jesus.  Following Jesus means following the Bible, and God gives us "simple math" to find the best answer for whatever choices/questions/quandaries that we face.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have we hit a wall today?  (In health, in schedule, in emotion...in faith?)
Do we feel like darkness has set in?
Then it's time to come back to the basics.  Simple Scriptures can provide complex solutions to our hearts and minds for today.
The Lord lights up our darkness and He emboldens us, encourages us, and equips us to scale any wall.
Lord, You hold a high standard because You ARE the highest of standards.  But You also simplify our faith into manageable steps.  You exceed our expectations, but thank you for clarifying the process for us to enter into relationship with You today.  Amen.
(26)  “To the faithful you show yourself faithful... ~2 Samuel 22:26
Lord, let us be faithful to you and your word. Not lazy. Not hurried. Not fitting-You-in-to-our-lives, but forming-our-lives-to-fit Your ways. Give us the faith to earnestly and honestly seek You and be committed to You, rather than being committed to everything else around us. Amen. To the faithful you show yourself faithful.
...to those with integrity you show integrity. ~2 Samuel 22:26
Integrity (Merriam-Webster) = firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values; INCORRUPTIBILITY; The quality or state of being complete or undivided
Are we using/exemplifying integrity in our pursuit of You, Lord, and in our daily lives?
Lord, our integrity in You provides a strength within us. If we are grounded in You, we can stand firm in temptation and pressure. Knowing and loving Your word and ways gives us strength against falling to the corruption of this world and even against the slow (almost imperceptible) deterioration of Your standards. Maintain our integrity in You, Father. Amen. To those with integrity you show integrity.
(27) To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.
(28) You rescue the humble. But Your eyes are on the proud whom You put to shame.
(29) O Lord, you are my lamp.  The Lord lights up my darkness.
(30) In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.  ~2 Samuel 22:27-30
Each of us will have different life choices today, but the faithful choice will present itself--choose it.
The choice of integrity will produce itself--choose it.
The pure choice will present itself---choose it.
How can we be humble today?
But if we give God an inch of faithfulness/integrity/humility: He travels miles to meet us there.
He also simplifies the complex for us.
How can we be faithful to God today?
How can we live in integrity today?
How can we live in purity today?
How can we be humble today?
The answers to whatever equations face us are usually quite clear and "simple math" once we refer to God's instructions.
As we make these choices...as we simplify all that bombards us in life today, we can boil it down:
What is the faithful option?
What is the option of integrity?
What is the pure choice?
What is the humble option?
When we simplify and go back to the "simple math" and basics God has given us...Then something happens...
The darkness gives way to dawn. (The Lord lights up my darkness. ~2 Samuel 22:29)
The wall is no longer insurmountable. (with my God I can scale any wall.  ~2 Samuel 22:30)
We are not "facing" the army in our own strength. But with God's strength...In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall (2 Samuel 22:26-30).
Living God's way and being led by His Word (the Bible) gives us a straight answer, clear direction and a true equation for living God's way.  There is only One Answer, and it's Jesus.  Following Jesus means following the Bible, and God gives us the "simple math" to find the best answer for whatever choices/questions/quandaries that we face.
2 + 2 equals 4...
and
To the faithful you show yourself faithful...
To the pure you show yourself pure... ~2 Samuel 22:26-27
It's simple math.
Today it's time to come back to the basics.  Living God's way and being led by His Word (the Bible) gives us a straight answer, clear direction and a true equation for living in Him today.
Blessings,
