Corona Devo 6
The tighter the ropes seem to get on our daily lives and public options because of the Corona precautions, the more closed-in we feel. The more isolated we feel. The lonelier we feel. Much of our contact has been cut off, and even if we didn’t “do” much before, at least we had the option to.
This is hard. Even if it is short term, it hurts inside.
I just cannot get over (everyday) that Jesus knows just what we are thinking, feeling and dealing with. Todays’ scripture spoke right into my heart and my hurt, and I hope that it whispers hope and love to you also.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. ~Ephesians 3:16-19

These verses were written by Paul as he prayed for believers, and I lift up the same prayer for us today. God’s riches are abundant and “glorious”—and he will pour them out on us. If you are feeling dry and lonely, take a moment to absorb and soak up God’s word and promise for you today. He WILL strengthen us with power through his Spirit in our inner being. That is the Holy Spirit, which lives inside each of us. Before Jesus went to the cross, He told the disciples that we was leaving, but that when he was gone, the Holy Spirit would come into their (our) hearts to guide them, comfort them, and lead them. If you feel a comfort in reading the Bible, or hearing the verses, that is the Holy Spirit! God is strengthen(ing) you (us) with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. ~Ephesians 3:16-17
The threat of Corona infection will pass. The stores, schools, libraries, and visitation hours will open up again. We are in a holding pattern, but it is for our own good (to reduce infection and spread.) But “normal” life will return. And the wait will be much more comfortable if you allow Jesus to strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

Please don’t miss this little “helper” piece of the verse. How can we access God? How can we connect with Jesus? Through faith. By believing in God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and accepting them into our hearts by faith. You won’t see Jesus physically walking in your door with a beard and in a white robe. The process of meeting Him isn’t physical, it is spiritual. You will admit that we are sinful and imperfect, but that we want to ask Him into our hearts, and then, He comes. It’s as easy as that, and He fills us up with His Holy Spirit..and life is different. We are different. But it begins with faith. Have faith that He loves you (He does). And ask Him in.

These verses are such a loving and powerful reminder that we are all in this together (together with all the Lord’s holy people). And more than that, in the middle of this Corona-storm, we are loved more completely than we can imagine. God wants us to grasp how wide and long and high and deep His love for us is.
Wide: wide-open—not for just a select few, or those that we see as “good”. Everyone. You. Me. His love is not narrow. His arms are wide.
Long: Everlasting. Ongoing. His patience and temper and love are long for us. And once we die, His love continues with us in Heaven. Put your faith in Him—His love is long.
High: Insurmountable. We can’t go around it—God’s love is huge.
Deep: Rich. Not superficial or shallow. He loves us dearly. He loved you and knew you in the womb. He knows your thoughts and concerns today. He knows us intimately and loves us deeply.
It is actually hard to understand the depth of God’s love for us, because we are able to love in such a less-encompassing way. But ruminate on these verses today and let the Truth of them seep into you. It’s hard to feel lonely and hopeless when the God of the universe is reminding you of how wide and long and high and deep His love is for you.
Open your hearts door and let Christ dwell in your hearts through faith.
