Have you ever met someone famous?  Even if it is just a local hero, or a live concert where you are watching someone you admire--it is quite a rush.  Your pulse quickens and you might get sweaty.  And if you get the opportunity to speak with them, why is it so easy to get tongue-tied?

Something about being in the presence of someone "famous" trips our nerves and often our tongues.

Have you ever mused about what it will be like to be in God's presence?

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”  13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”  ~Revelation 5:11-13

Can you imagine what Heaven will be like, and what our response will be when we are in God's presence?  These verses give us a preview of the Heavenly experience.  First of all, we won't be alone.

Sometimes, as Christ-followers here on earth, it feels lonely. Like very few others hold our Biblical values.  The Bible-based principals we study and teach our children are not desired by others, and are being ridiculed and opposed more frequently in today's society.  Often, I feel that Christ-followers are in the minority.  But not in Heaven.  When we come home to Jesus, there will be others there worshiping the Lord with us.  Many others:  Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. ~Revelation 5:11

What will we do in heaven?  I am not sure of all the specifics, but these verses give us some general direction.  We will be giving God praise!   In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” ~Revelation 5:12.

The angels preface their worship by claiming the worthiness of the Lamb.  “Worthy is the Lamb..." ~Revelation 5:12.  He IS worthy.  He will be worthy when we see Him there, and let us be moved today in remembering and appreciating how worthy of praise He is.  He is so mighty.  He has orchestrated our lives and our days, and He has been good to us.  Way better than we deserve.  “Worthy is the Lamb..." ~Revelation 5:12.

Did you catch the line-up of all that the Lord is worthy of, and that we will be praising Him in response to?  His power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and praise.  These are huge words in the English language, if you think about it.  Each word encompasses so much alone, and to have One worthy of receiving the merit of all of these words combined---it could only be God.  And, as with other descriptions of Heaven in the Book of Revelation, or the presence of God that others experience in the Bible--words can't even capture the full magnitude.  So, I get the feeling that even with these powerfully strong words--we are only catching a glimpse of feeling all the reasons that we will be worshiping the Lord when we are in His presence.  Just writing it makes my pulse skip.  Worshiping the Lord in Heaven will be meeting the most famous of all famous people!

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”  ~Revelation 5:13
Sometimes we do things half-heartedly.  We might be tired, or bored, or just not able to achieve full-force sometimes.  But the worship of God in Heaven will be with our whole hearts.  We will not worship sleepily or in boredom.  We won't struggle to focus.  Us, and every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea (Revelation 5:13) will NOT be half-hearted as we give God honor, but instead we will worship with all that is in them..." (Revelation 5:13).  There will be no half-way in Heaven.  We will be all-in for God and for giving Him glory.  He deserves it! The Lamb is worthy.

God is worthy of our affections and our adoration and our gratitude today.  He is the genesis of all things good in us and in our lives.  “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”  ~Revelation 5:13
He sits on the throne of Heaven, and He also sits on the throne of our lives.  He is the King of the world but also the King of our daily circumstances and relationships.  He is with us, and He loves us, in depths that we can't we grasp.  But we do catch glimpses.

One day we will worship Him in full, and for today we can submit to a posture of gratitude to God.  He is worthy.  I don't know exactly what praising Him in Heaven will be like, and I also don't know what praising Him today in each of our lives will look like--that is up to us.  He created us each differently, and we can express our honor and praise to God in different ways.  There is no wrong way to give God glory.  But He is not so famous that we need get tongue-tied or sweat bullets over it.  The Lord is renowned but He also wants to be intimately connected to each of us.  Personalize your praise today, in word, deed or song.  Today you may praise Him alone, but in one of our "tomorrows", we will join thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.

Blessings,
sarah
