Has anyone ever played the Wii U Game, "Just Dance"?
You select a song, and characters perform dance moves on the screen to it.  You also dance to it, and the Wii controllers that you hold register your "moves".  The closer you mimic the characters on screen, the more points you receive.  The best performer wins.

As I read scripture today, I realized this idea is not too far off from the challenge we have in following Christ.  Our lives should mimic Christ.  The closer we get to Him and His word and ways--the more in-sync our thoughts/hearts/actions are with how He would react, comment, and treat others.  Our experience in life (and the experience of those around us) is elevated--the closer we mirror Jesus.

What are some classic "Jesus moves" that we can imitate?  I found a few in Micah (a prophet of the Lord), Chapter 7.

How about the difficult twist of forgiving others when they hurt us or sin against us? (...pardons the guilt...overlooking the sins... ~Micah 7:18)

Let's try keeping our partners and family/friends close in not staying angry with others, even when they wrong us. (You will not stay angry with your people forever...  ~Micah 7:18)

Can we attempt the advanced move of showing "unfailing love"?

A difficult step that the Lord often repeats in his dance with us is showing compassion.  (Once again you will have compassion on us.  ~Micah 7:19)

A few of the routines that Jesus performs are so advanced that only He can carry them out, and they are out-of-this-world!  Literally!  Only God can "trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!  (Micah 7:19).  A perfect 10 on the scoring.

A step that we can work on mastering each day through our study of God's word and our worship of Him with our lives is His faithfulness (Micah 7:20). The Lord is so faithful to us, and we can practice being faithful to Him, and to others in His name.

The last piece of Jesus' routine mentioned in these verses is the repeated step of "unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.  (Micah 7:20).  Over and over God loves us.  His love is unfailing.  Our love for Him should mirror that.  In the times of bounty--unfailing love.  In the times of famine, unfailing love.  In all times--God loves us, and we should have an outpouring of unfailing love for Him.

Here is how Micah 7 puts all of these Godly-moves together in describing God, and thus giving us the "steps" to mimic as His followers:

Where is another God like you, w
ho pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people?  You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love.  19 Once again you will have compassion on us.  You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!  20 You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.  ~Micah 7:18-20

Our Lord and God never makes a misstep or trips up.  He is the ultimate one to model our lives after.  His "moves" are founded in holiness and love.  As we dance (and trip) our way through life, our greatest moments of harmony are when we are in closest step with the Lord.

Shall we dance with Jesus today?
