"I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.”  ~Genesis 18:19

Can we be accused of "doing what is right and just"?

For real: if your best friend, neighbor or sibling were to comment on our life, would they say, could they say that we do what is right and just?

Deep down inside (and sometimes not so deep), we all have seeds of sin which encourage us to do what is right for us and to serve just us, not others.  But the Lord is the One that shifts our focus and motivation OFF of ourselves and our immediate needs, and ON to His plans for us and others.  And so, let's take "right and just" one step further and let's keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.

Afterall, God is the One who gives us our sense of what is right and just.  God is our moral base.  God's word teaches us how to behave righteously, and in the Bible we can read a life-description of how it was done to perfection by Jesus.  He lived and treated others by doing what is right and just when He walked the earth.  We can too.

So many of our struggles today as individuals, as married couples, as parents, and as a Nation stem from us making poor decisions about doing what is right and just.  We each have our own area where we are compromising in being right and just.  I don't have to list examples because that struggle popped into your mind when you read the sentence.  All of us have areas that we need to tighten up in keep(ing) the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.  God will help us do that, if we submit it to Him.

Our first priority must be ourselves.  If we can become more consistent in keep(ing) the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, then our lives will change.  Our attitudes will change, our behaviors will change.  Our reactions will change, and our lives will change when we keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.

And do you know who will notice?  Everyone.  Your spouse will notice when you keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.  Your children will notice when you keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.  Your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers will notice when you keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.  Believers or skeptics--people cannot deny how you live and how you treat them.  When we do what is right and just we will stick out from the crowd, and that is a good thing, if we are keep(ing) the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.

And God notices when we do what is right and just.  He is blessed by our obedience to Him and He is the epitome of what is right and just.

The Lord loved Abraham and singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just (Genesis 18:19).

The Lord loves us, and he singles us out so that we will direct our sons and daughters and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.

It was a call on Abraham's life, and it is a call on our lives too.  Answer God's call today to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.  And we must direct any one that we can have influence over to do that same.  God gives us this understanding so that we will pass it on.

It will change you.  It will change those who know you. It will change our cities and it will change our Nation if we begin keep(ing) the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.  I am ready for that change.

And what is in it for us?

Untold treasure.

God has promised us security, safety, value, acceptance, shelter, comfort, wisdom, joy, peace, patience, love, love, and did-I-mention unconditional love.  We can find in nowhere else.  But we sure try.

Love is God's deepest promise for us, and He wraps us up in so many varieties of His love, altering the delivery and presentation of it, depending on where we are at during that moment, day, or season.

Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.”  ~Genesis 18:19.  The Lord will keep His end of the bargain.  Will we?  He has singled us out.

"I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.”  ~Genesis 18:19

For the love of our self, our families and our Nation: today let's keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just

Blessings,

sarah
