There, there.  It's going to be alright.

God knows just what we need to hear and when we need comforting.  Like now.

If today feels all uphill, and you've only just begun the day...He knows.  Today, now, take a pause to realize, remember, and absorb how special you are to God.

Today, step into some of the phrases and promises that God has spoken about us for today.  Nevermind what your parents said, your boss says, your kids say, your brain-on-over-drive-chants.  Nevermind all of that.  What does God say about us?

Then Moses climbed the mountain to appear before God. The Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “Give these instructions to the family of Jacob; announce it to the descendants of Israel: (Exodus 19:3)

Just a note to any of us who love Jesus--we are in His family, which is the family of Jacob.  The day we accepted Jesus into our hearts, we were grafted into the heritage of God, which goes all the way back to the descendants of Israel.  So, please do not miss that the instructions that God wanted Moses to pass to the Israelites, were also intended for us today because we are in God's family and we are His descendants.

‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.   (Exodus 19:4)

God is reminding them and you and me today of all that He has done for us because he loves us.

‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians.' The Lord has freed us from areas and people that have held us captive throughout our lives.  Maybe he is working on something in your life today.  He has improved our situations and our dispositions through His mercy for us.  He has made a way for us when we could not make our own way.  When we were (are) vulnerable, immobile, or lost, He carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

Review your life, and I pray that you can see times or seasons when God has done this for you.  When He has carried you on His wings because you were too weak to proceed on your own.  Maybe that is today.  God's reliability, power and extreme love for you are in full effect today.  It's okay to collapse and let His wings carry you for a while.  We are safe with Him.  Because His Heart will always be to bring us to Himself (brought you to myself).  There is no more-safe-place than with Him.  When we are vulnerable with Him is when we are most safe-guarded.  And today, if we feel depleted, alone, or purposeless--find comfort in His reminder and promise to carry us on His wings and bring us to Himself.

Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. (Exodus 19:5)

Today, God pulls us into His lap, hugs us tight and whispers into our tired bodies and exhausted souls that we are His own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth.  Soak that up.  The King of the Universe calls you and me His own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth.  Nevermind what your parents said, your boss says, your kids say, your brain-on-over-drive-chants.  Nevermind all of that.  God speaks this truth into our hearts today: you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth.

Absorb this honor.  Sop up the deliciousness of this promise.  God loves you.  Just as you are, and right now:  God loves us.

And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.’ This is the message you must give to the people of Israel.”  (Exodus 19:6)

Not only does He love us deeply, but he's given us royal duties.  As believers, we are in the Kingdom of God, and so it only makes sense that we should have priestly duties.  When you boil it all down, "priests" share the word of God with others.  God called on the Israelites to share His name and fame with the world, and the same call is on our lives.  We are his holy nation.

If not us, who?  God watched over the Israelites.  He freed them captivity, and watched over them and provided for them.  God does all of these things for us as well.  If you have not experienced one of these phases, you will, we all do.  God is with His people, and He is with you today.   How can we not tell His story?  And we each have our own personal one to share.

But in the meantime, for right now I want to cover us back up with the soft blanket of comfort that today's scripture wraps around us.  Relax in the family heritage we have in Christ.  We are a part of the family of Jacob and as believers we are grafted in to the descendants of Israel.  Doesn't that feel amazing?

The Lord comforts us and lifts us up today.  No matter where we are spiritually, emotionally or physically today: God promises to and reminds us of when He carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

God silences the noise around us that poisons our mind and heart with lies about ourselves and He calls you my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth.

Relax in the love and acceptance that God offers us today.  Let Him lift you up on His wings.
God knows just what we need to hear and when we need to hear it.  Like now.

Blessings,

sarah
