Do not give up.

Do you have a cause that is close to your heart, but the gusto that once propelled it seems to be fizzling out?

Are you like The Little Engine That Could, but as you chug and chug along each day, the load seems to be heavier and the resistance even stronger?

Keep chugging!

If your cause is righteous and your heart is pure in seeking it, then be persistent and stay vigilant in prayer.

The world (and it's people/situations/anxieties) can burden our spirits and cripple our energy, but God is always listening to the cries of our hearts.

Keep praying. Keep believing and keep seeking what is right.

Even the strongest Christ-followers, can become burdened and bound by their circumstances, which is why Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1)

If Jesus spoke persistence into His chosen 12, then He also speaks it into us today. Do not give up. Keep praying for what is right!

2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’” ~Luke 18:2-5

Are we up against anyone like the "unjust judge"? Are there those in our lives and Nation that neither feared God nor cared what people thought? Certainly. There have always been these people, which is why Jesus included them in this common parable. We all have causes that we are called to fight for, to stand up for, and to champion. So keep doing that. Do not give up. God's word reminds us today to be persistent in prayer. It makes a difference, even to non-believers.

Our justice may be realized simply by wearing down the judge. And we will take that victory--a "W" is a "W".

But in the parable, Jesus clarifies for His followers that beyond the "unjust judge's" reasoning in bringing justice, is God's reasoning. God will bring justice for His people. You and I are His people. Keep praying and do not give up.

Lord, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”  ~Luke 18:1-8

The load can get heavy, and zest can dissipate, but the love of our Father and the power of His justice does not get laden-down and it will not fizzle out. Stay persistent in praying for your cause. The widow would not stop, and if she could change an "unjust judge's" mind with persistence, will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

He will not keep putting us off. And we not only have permission, but God commissions us to cry out to him day and night.

So get back on your knees. Shut the door to your prayer closet. Get alone with God and persist in praying that He will ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

If we had lost the wind in our sails, I pray that God's word and example blows a gust into our souls and propels us forward in our quest for being granted justice both from the Sovereign Lord and also those that neither fear(ed) God nor care(d) what people thought.

Prayer and persistence are powerful weapons that we must keep wielding.

If your cause is righteous and your heart is pure in seeking it, then be persistent and stay vigilant in prayer. Jesus told his disciples (this) to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
