Corona Devo 309
(38) “How much bread do you have?” he asked. “Go and find out.”
They came back and reported, “We have five loaves of bread and two fish.”
(39) Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass. (40) So they sat down in groups of fifty or a hundred.
(41) Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. (42) They all ate as much as they wanted, (43) and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish. (44) A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed. ~Mark 6:38-44
The loaves and the fishes, Lord! You do not need volume. You do not need numbers. You do not need existing conditions. You do not need physical preparedness. You just do the miracle.
Do the miracle for us, Lord.
In the middle of the miracle/as the disciples kept passing out the food/while-it-was-happening: more of the bread and fish just kept coming. The disciples were not questioning it because they were in the middle of it. They were doing Your will and following Your instruction. One-batch-at-a-time, placed into the hands of the disciples and shared--they were obedient. Let us be those workers for You, Father!
In the middle of today/in the middle of a pandemic/in the middle of upheaval of what we thought we knew: As Your disciples, let us trust in Your provision and let us keep sharing what you provide.
What "loaves and fishes" have you given us to distribute today? Joy? Hope? Your Word? Patience? A smile. A hug? A meal? Money? Open up our tiny minds to Your Big Plans. The disciples were small minded, like us: his disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. (36) Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy something to eat.”
37 But Jesus said, “You feed them.”
“With what?” they asked. “We’d have to work for months to earn enough money to buy food for all these people!” ~Mark 6:35-37In the middle of all of this: this world, this life, this confusion--keep our heads down and keep us focused on You. To question each piece of the plan is distracting and counter-productive. As Your followers it is not our role to cross-examine Your methods, we are here to carry them out in faith. Lord, let us be obedient to Your call on us today.
Jesus, as a Nation, and as Your children, we are sitting down in groups on the green grass (Mark 6:39). We are waiting for Your provision. Not money, Lord. Not goods, Lord. But spiritual-food and favor for our souls and spirits. Biblical-nourishment for our hearts and to raise-up our children in. Bring Your loaves and fishes to feed Your people of America, Father. We know not what it will look like, but we know that You will provide.
Do the miracle for us, Lord.
We have come seeking you, Lord. Today we sit down in groups on the green grass (Mark 6:39) and listen for Your message to our hearts. Some of us know You. Some of us want to know You. Some of us doubt, but sit here still. We are drawn to You, Father. Not to Your miracles, but to the freedom, truth and hope that You speak over our lives and our Nation, and our today. You set the captives free. Just as You gave freedom to the Israelites from slavery, You give us freedom from our slavery to sin and all of the worldly packaging that it comes to us wrapped up in. You have always granted freedom to those who seek You. You break our chains, Lord. Break them today. Do the miracle for us, Lord.
Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass. (40) So they sat down (Mark 6:39-40).
Today we sit in the green grass of America. Father, keep it green. Keep our Nation plush and well-watered in Your ways and Your Word. We praise You for the green grass that our forefathers planted and we have been blessed to enjoy.
Lord, we pray for Your provision of spiritual loaves and fishes to be doled-out over our Nation. Distribute a boldness and a fire for You, and let us eat it up and be energized to serve You by it. He kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people (Mark 6:41). Lord, keep giving us Your bread of life so that we can distribute You love, hope and forgiveness to a starving world. We are a people divided, but You unite. Allow us the great privilege and opportunity to share Your hope and distribute it to the people.
Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. (Mark 6:41)
Lord, we pray and plead You to look up toward heaven, and bless the United States of America. Administer Your loaves and fishes across our land and Your spirit across our souls. Lord, let us enjoy Your Word, sovereignty and provision across America. They all ate as much as they wanted (Mark 6:42). In these coming days and times, let us feast on the good that You want to provide for us.
Do the miracle for us, Lord.
In the middle of your miracles and as they are occurring, let us be involved and active and in the middle of it. We want to be doing Your will and following Your instruction. We are sitting down in groups on the green grass and we are ready to share what we receive from You.
Do the miracle for us, Lord.
Blessings,
sarah
