Are you facing a storm today? I don't mean heavy snowfall, hurricane winds off the coast, or a dust storm stirring up. I mean a life storm.
It's not a question of if the storms of life will come, it is a question of when. (When the storms of life come... ~Proverbs 10:25)
Sometimes they are brewing for a while. We sense the unrest, or the prognosis, or we simply put-off-dealing-with the storm for as long as we can...and it brews.
Other times the storm seems instantaneous. One moment we were fine. Our loved one was fine. The day-to-day cycle of life seemed fine, and then BOOM! The storm erupts or the whirlwind passes by (Proverbs 10:25) without any prior notice.
And then where are we?
Are we whirled away?
Are we gone?
Are we simply "no more"?
Well...we're still here aren't we? Still breathing. Still ticking. Still praying. Still hoping-for-today and trusting-in-tomorrow, even in the storm and in the wake of the storm.
How do we do that, though? How can we prepare today for the storm that will undoubtedly hit in one of our tomorrow's?
And if we are in the middle of a (physical/emotional/spiritual) storm today, do we have any recourse?
When the ground/normalcies/people that we are accustomed to standing with and on are washing away from underneath us, do we have a firm foundation to revert to? Yes.
When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation. ~Proverbs 10:25 New Living translation (NLT)
When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever. ~Proverbs 10:25 New International Version (NIV)
When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. ~Proverbs 10:25 New King James Version (NKJV)
We have an everlasting foundation. Our faith is built on the sturdy ground of Christ and what He did for us and what He promises for us.
The storm may be making us weak in the knees and unsteady on our feet, but the righteous stand firm forever. We are not going down today. Believe it!
If we know the Father and seek the Son, we are heirs of God. Studying His Word and planting it in our hearts are the building blocks to a firm foundation. And that lasting foundation is what will allow us to weather the storm.
God is with us in today's storm. He's given us an everlasting foundation, which is Himself. We can stand on God's truths. We can steady ourselves on His solid ground, and when the storm has swept by (and it will), we will still be standing.
Regardless of whether your storm has been brewing for awhile, or if it "touched down" all-of-a-sudden--we're still here aren't we? Still breathing. Still ticking. Still praying. Still hoping-for-today and trusting-in-tomorrow, even in the storm and in the wake of the storm.
When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation. ~Proverbs 10:25 NLT
Take shelter in God's Word today. We can stand firm because we have an everlasting foundation in Him.
Blessings,
