Apparently it's time for me to be gettin' along.

Perhaps it's time for you to be movin'-on-down-the-road in some area of your life too.

We shouldn't be surprised. God has always moved His people in and out of their comfort zones. Seems like just as soon as we get comfortable with a "camp" in life, it is time to "break camp" and move on to follow God somewhere new.

The Israelites moved and "camped" in many places as they followed God's lead. They would be "called to a location", they would "set-up camp", they would "get acclimated" and then God would "bring word that it was time to move on".

I can relate today, can you?

Have we gotten relatively comfortable in a certain location/situation/routine-of-life and now we feel the Lord telling us that it is time to break camp and move on (Deuteronomy 1:7).

Yep-I'm there in more than one situation in my life.

If you are on the cusp of something new also, tune in with me--

“...the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. (7) It is time to break camp and move on. (Deuteronomy 1:6-7)

But, God, we liked that "camp"... -You have stayed...long enough...It is time to break camp and move on...

But, God, we got comfortable in that "camp"... -You have stayed...long enough...It is time to break camp and move on...

But, God, we are intimidated/anxious/unsure about being "called to a location", about "setting-up-a-new-camp", about "getting acclimated", and about moving on"... -You have stayed...long enough...It is time to break camp and move on...

But what if we were to realize today that it is not about leaving our current "camp", it is about GOING! to our next "camp" that God is calling us to. And more than that, if he is sending us, it is going to be good and for our good.

Just as God sent the Israelites on to their next "camp", He sends us today...with His blessing!

Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions—the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills, the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River. (8) Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.’” ~Deuteronomy 1:7-8

Sure, their destinations were different than ours, and your next-destination will be different than mine, but don't miss the Lord's direction, encouragement, and marching-orders for us as we break camp and move on today:

"Go to the hill country...

Go to the land...

(8) Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to you...” ~Deuteronomy 1:6-8

It's not a soft whisper from God: His tone in these scriptures is powerful, directive, and authoritative. The "camp" we are leaving was unknown and intimidating at one time, before we went in and occupied it.

Before there was comfort, there was uncomfort. But the comfort comes from walking boldly through the uncomfort. And God is launching us into it today.

If you (like me) sense a directional change or a situational shift that is afoot in your life: “...the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. (7) It is time to break camp and move on. (Deuteronomy 1:6-7)...

Then apparently it's time for us to be gettin' along.

Perhaps it's time for us to be movin'-on-down-the-road.

But we do not make the move alone. We go at the direction of our King and we walk in faith as we are "called to a new location/situation/routine-of-life. God will show us where to "set-up camp", and He will provide circumstances and people to "get us acclimated".

And Lord knows, pretty soon, and just as soon as we get comfortable then God will bring word that we have stayed at this mountain long enough. (7) It is time to break camp and move on. (Deuteronomy 1:6-7)

But we are ready today. Especially when we hear the promise in His voice of what is around-the-bend at the next "camp": "Go...Go...(8) Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to you...” ~Deuteronomy 1:6-8

God sends us today...with His blessing!

Blessings,

sarah
