Sure enough...We can trust God's word...

As he came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, he sent two disciples ahead. 30 “Go into that village over there,” he told them. “As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

32 So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said. 33 And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?”

34 And the disciples simply replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on.  ~Luke 19:29-35

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus knows the events of our lives before they happen. He has plotted them. (...he sent two disciples ahead...you will see a young donkey tied there..Untie it and bring it here. ~Luke 19:29-30)
If we choose to obey Him, His Word, and His plan for us, (sure enough) things will roll out just as they are supposed to.
(By the way---I am not suggesting even for a moment that we will understand all of the plans that God has for us, or their significance in our lives or the lives of others at that time, but we can trust that there is significance in all that God does and brings into our lives.)
And also by the way--did you notice how little Jesus told the disciples to say when people asked them about His directions?
 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”  ~Luke 19:34
And as things are "rolling out" in our lives, and we are following God's lead through them, we do not need to explain/apologize/rationalize/or prove the Lord or His plans to anyone else. God will take care of the details. We just need to take care of our obedience to Him.
Jesus told the disciples to keep it simple, and he tells us the same thing through His Word and example today.
God's Word is simple.  We should keep it simple.
Sure enough...We can trust God's word...
Do we trust God and His word?  We can, and the disciples did.  Jesus told them what to say "if" someone asked them about the donkey, and sure enough...someone asked about it.
 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”  32 So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said. 33 And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?”  ~Luke 19:31-33
Jesus knows what is about to happen to us, for us, and with us.  Donkeys tied to a hitching post are not the only thing that He can see waiting down the road.  But if we needed an example of His Sovereignty and His specific and intimate knowledge of our day to day happenstances, the donkey foretelling is perfect.
Do we trust God enough to do what His Word says before we have proof?
The disciples knew exactly what to do and how to respond because they listened to Jesus and trusted Him.  We can too.
Have we seen God's Word "come true" or be "proven" in our day to day?  Not everyday, to be sure, but from time to time have you seen His divine fingerprints on the outcome of your situations before the outcome came?
Have we known what to do or say (or what not to do or say) because of God and His Word advising us?  Sure enough, God's Word will prove itself.
  • Jesus knows the events of our lives before they happen. He has plotted them: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  ~John 16:33
    • Whoo-wee!  All of us have had "trouble" in this world!  And if you aren't having any today, just         wait a day or two.  But Jesus doesn't say that the world's trouble should overwhelm and cripple us.  He speaks truth into our situations (I have overcome the world) before they even occur, and we can know how to persevere because He has prepped us.  Sure enough...We can trust God's word.
  • Jesus knows the events of our lives before they happen. He has plotted them: If the world hates  you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  ~John 15:18.
    • "The world" isn't exactly jumping for joy over God's definition of gender (So God created human beings in his own image.  In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.  ~Genesis 1:27), or marriage (This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. ~Genesis 2:24), or many of God's principles, but if they hate believers for believing God's word, then we can be comforted and empowered that they hated Jesus first.
Sure enough...We can trust God's word to be simple and to come true.
Those who are lost, hurting, and seeking do not need flowery words or grandiose theology.  They need us to be real with them, and to just say the truth about God and His Word.
If we choose to obey Him, His Word, and His plan for us, (sure enough) things will roll out just as they are supposed to. God will take care of the details. We just need to take care of our obedience to Him.
Sure enough...
Blessings,
sarah
