Have you ever skied? You know that moment when you are at the top of an intimidating (too big) hill? It's the reason you came. You waited in anticipation to get here. The mountain lays majestic and well, mountainous before you.
There's nothing else to do but push off and begin the adventure.
I'm there. Maybe you are too.
I don't mean physically that I am at the top of a steep mountain ready to push off, I mean spiritually.
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. ~Matthew 21:22
Sometimes our faith places us at the same precipice as a black diamond ski hill. We've prayed for direction...and received it. We have completed the homework, laid the groundwork, and done the hard work...and now, there's nothing else to do but push off and begin the adventure.
But it's hard.
We get frozen. Our mind races. Our (physical and spiritual) knees buckle. All of the places that we felt sure of, we now suddenly feel unsure of.
But this is the reason why we came. We've waited in anticipation to get here. The "mountain" (God's assignment for us) lays majestic and well, mountainous before us.
There's nothing else to do but push off and begin the adventure. Let's go today. Jesus takes our hand, and His word narrates what we are living:
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ~Hebrews 11:1
That is what faith is, isn't it?
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for... We hoped for this mountain. We prayed for the opportunity to serve God, we realize that we were born for a purpose and He is it. We hoped for and prayed for a tangible way to live for Him today, and faith is the confidence to push off and begin the adventure (with Christ) now that He has presented our opportunity.
We've hoped for it for so long that it often comes as a surprise when it comes. The mountain that looked majestic in the distance looks so big and intimidating now that we stand on the brink of it.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ~Hebrews 11:1
As we stand poised atop the mountain that God has placed before us, we can have assurance. Assurance that He placed us here. Assurance that we hoped to be placed here. Assurance that we have put in time, prayer and hope that this would happen.
And now it's happening. That is the definition of faith.
It's time. There's nothing else to do but push off and begin the adventure.
For we live by faith, not by sight. ~2 Corinthians 5:7
We may not be able to "see" or imagine how we are going to get down this mountain, but we can be sure and have faith that the Lord has put us here and that He's with us as we begin the journey.
When Joseph (Mary's husband and the earthly dad of Jesus) received visits from angels in his dreams, both times, he woke up and got moving on what they had told him:
- When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him... ~Matthew 1:24).
- an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” (14) So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, ~Matthew 2:13-14
If today God is whispering, nudging, confirming or shouting for us to push off of the mountain that He has brought us to, then let's go.
Let's wake up and get up and get moving on what God has next for us.
It's the reason we came. We've waited in anticipation to get here. Even though the mountain has become more intimidating than when we were praying for it...here we are. And here it is.
There's nothing else to do but push off and begin the adventure.
I'm in if you are.
And if we believe that God brought us to this precipice, then we can be sure that He is "in", too.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ~Hebrews 11:1
Let's attack our mountains today with confidence and with assurance. We will not careen out-of-control, if we proceed in faith and with the Father.
Let's push off and begin the adventure today.
Blessings,
sarah
