Corona Devo 711
The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a contingent of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove.
(4) Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked.
(5) “Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied.
“I am he,” Jesus said. (Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.) (6) As Jesus said “I am he,” they all drew back and fell to the ground! (7) Once more he asked them, “Who are you looking for?” ~John 18:3-7
Don’t forget Who is in charge. Of us. Of today. Of good. Of evil. Of everything. Jesus is the boss.
Our situations and our “stuff” are all around us, encroaching on our sanity, peace, and joy, and threatening to handcuff us and cart us away. And sometimes I feel like I am already bound by all of it. But we must remember that no matter what is threatening our peace or what has us bound today...Jesus is the boss over all of it.
He fully realizes all that is going to happen in our next minute, our next week, in our minds...and Jesus steps forward to meet all of it with us. He is the Alpha and the Omega (I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. ~Revelation 21:6), which means that He is the beginning and the end, and it also means that He is before whatever is coming “next” for us and He will be right there beside us after it has occurred. Jesus is the boss, and we can trust Him to be with us.
He won’t stop the “hard” from happening, but just as there was purpose (our salvation!) in the “hard” that Jesus endured…there is purpose in the “hard” that we are facing/will face too.
Jesus fully realizes all that is going to happen to us, so he steps forward to meet it with us. And don’t forget that Jesus is the boss over all of it.
We will encounter the “hard” things, but Jesus is the boss over them.
As the disciples and Jesus prayed in the Mount of Olives before the crucifixion saga unfolded, soldiers and Judas approached out of the darkness. Roman soldiers were nothing to mess with. They were brutal and fierce, and they came for Jesus with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons (John 18:3).
We will have days and people that come at us in the same fierce way. But at the name of Jesus and in the understanding of Who He is (the boss over good, evil, today, and us), even darkness (evil) falls on its face (they all drew back and fell to the ground! ~John 18:6). Jesus is the boss.
Jesus knew the “hard” was coming. He did not stop it from occurring, but Our Lord and Savior is the boss over the good and evil realms of this world, and the reaction of the soldiers at the sound of Jesus name is evidence of that.
No one, no name, no effort/movement/mood/lie is above the name of Jesus and the reality of His power (all that He is the boss over). We will experience hard things, but they have no dominion unless we give them more power in our minds and hearts than we give Jesus. He is the boss over us. We can know that and trust Him, and even the enemy can't deny His authority.
So don’t forget Who is in charge today. Of us. Of good. Of evil. Of everything. Jesus is the boss.
Jesus fully realizes all that is going to happen to us, so he steps forward to meet it with us. And regardless of what weapons or bindings the evil one is threatening us with today, don’t forget that Jesus is the boss over all of it.
And we bow under His authority, but so do our adversaries. May they draw back and fall to the ground before Him today.
Blessings,
Sarah
