Are you hanging on by a thread today?  Worn out and worn thin by the world, our responsibilities and our worry?

Put your hope in God's word.

I am worn out waiting for your rescue,  but I have put my hope in your word.  ~Psalm 119:81

We are searching for God today.  In our daily stress our eyes strain to see His promises come true, but He is faithful to us and to comfort us.  He does so by wrapping His Word/decrees/instructions/commandments around us like a warm blanket.  He will comfort us--feel it now as generations of Christ-followers have felt it before us:

(82) My eyes are straining to see your promises come true.  When will you comfort me?

(90) Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created.  ~Psalm 119:82, 90).

Even though our surroundings/situations/adversaries makes us shrivel, and these arrogant people who hate your instructions have dug deep pits to trap us, we have not forgotten to obey your decrees, and we are comforted and strengthened by reading Your Word even right now:

(83) I am shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke, but I have not forgotten to obey your decrees.

(84) How long must I wait?  When will you punish those who persecute me?

(85) These arrogant people who hate your instructions have dug deep pits to trap me.

(86) All your commands are trustworthy.  Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause.  ~Psalm 119:83-86

It's been a day, on top of a week, on top of a long season of trial.  God knows that.  He knows us and every intimate detail of our day, our heart, and our (sometimes) war-torn/distracted/lie-telling mind.  He knows that they almost finished me off, but I refused to abandon your commandments (Psalm 119:87).

REFUSE TO ABANDON GOD'S COMMANDMENTS TODAY.

God knows that we--are waiting for our rescue/are straining to see His promises/are shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke/that they almost finished us off...and that we are hanging on by a thread today.

But God also knows that we know we can trust Him at His Word.  We might be threadbare and shriveled, but our hope in Him cannot be snuffed because we hold the Source of strength and joy(!) in our hands when we hold the Bible.

I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life. (Psalm 119:93).

God knows that if His instructions hadn’t sustained us with joy, we would have died in our misery (Psalm 119:92).  But those of us that know Him refuse to abandon His commandments.  And because of His commandments (The hope of His commandments!/The history of His commandments/the future/unending Truth and reality of His commandments), we are rescued/revived/refilled today.

God meets us today---not in passing trends or hoped-for-solutions, but by His commandments:

(93) I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.

(94) I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments.

(95) Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws.

(96) Even perfection has its limits, but your commands have no limit.  ~Psalm 119:93-96

Lord, your commands have no limit, and that includes how they apply to us and how they minister to us in our weakness and our weariness.  Your commands have no limit, and we are yours in being rescued by the truth of them.

God knows we are hanging on by a thread and He gives us life and a lifeline by His Word and commands.

REFUSE TO ABANDON GOD'S COMMANDMENTS TODAY.

I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life. ~Psalm 119:93.
