When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he marched out to meet them. (9) The Philistines arrived and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. (10) So David asked God, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”
The Lord replied, “Yes, go ahead. I will hand them over to you.”
(11) So David and his troops went up to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “God did it!” David exclaimed. “He used me to burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So they named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). ~I Chronicles 14:8-11

Went to bed crying last night. The pressure, the responsibility, the expectations, the burden-of-living-for-Christ is just too much sometimes.
Sometimes this is me (and maybe you), but last night, this described our youngest child.
A month into a new school year at a new school, and in the youngest grade at her (middle) school, she (mostly) willingly has picked up the mantle of leading the after school Bible club. Until the night before the first meeting...which was last night...when the stress and pressure...and the unknown hit.
We had rehearsed the lesson and plotted the plan, but the intimidation that settled over her was very real. “Should I go out and fight the enemies of middle school popularity, acceptance and status-quo?", her heart seemed to be asking her mind and her God last night.
But when she woke up today, she marched out to meet them: her fears and her friends.

We each have to ask God the same question today: “Should I go out to fight for You today?"
If we are willing to ask Him, if we are brave enough to ask Him, if we are faithful enough to ask God...He will always have a reply for us.
The Lord replied, “Yes, go ahead. I will hand them over to you.” ~I Chronicles 14:10
So, just as David and his troops went up to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there (I Chronicles 14:11), our 11-year old went up to school and defeated the intimidation of the enemy, by standing firm on the foundation of Christ our victor.
And how did God's after school Bible club go?
“God did it!” David exclaimed. “He used me to burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So they named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). ~I Chronicles 14:11

God did do it.
And it is only Him that ever does it for us.
The Lord bursts through our enemies, but He bursts through us too: our insecurities, our intimidations, our fears
I share our daughter's example in humility. It's nothing special...it's just her latest example of how God burst through what she was up against.
You have daily examples of wanting to cry-yourself-to-sleep under the pressures of life, and so do I. And we can have those moments.
But I pray that through the Truth and examples of the Bible, we will also march out of those moments.
God will use any of us to bring victory in His name, and He is hoping that each of us will march out to meet Him for the battle today.
He gives us the Bible so that we will inquire and ask His advice on how to proceed in whatever is next in our lives.
And any (bursting through) victory that comes...is His.
So they named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). ~I Chronicles 14:11
