Are we outnumbered?

Grossly.

Do they have worldly sophistications over us?

Absolutely.

Will any victory on our side make "military" or logical sense?

Nope.

That's how I was feeling today as a soldier for Jesus.  As I surveyed the "landscape", the "enemy" forces, and their (growing) resources against us, I was feeling powerless, intimidated and overwhelmed.  (Does this sense-of-desperation ever settle over you?)

I felt all of those things sitting on me, but I also felt God calling me...to His Word.  (The Bible is not for God's encouragement and hope...it is for ours!)

I cracked open my Bible and cried out:

“O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”  ~2 Chronicles 14:11

~~~
The Bible account on the pages before me highlighted King Asa who had armies of around 580,000 well-trained fighting men, but (9) ...an Ethiopian named Zerah attacked...with an army of 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots (2 Chronicles 14:8-9).
Asa was outnumbered and overpowered, and the enemy was advancing upon him.
We each have our own "armies of 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots" advancing on our minds, our peace, and our purpose today.
But Asa was fully committed to the Lord.  In his desperation (and his dependence on God), he cried out.
Cry out to God today!
“O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”  ~2 Chronicles 14:11
And then God showed up for Asa, and God gives us His word so that we might read and realize that His power is real and accessible!  Listen to what the Bible says to Asa and to us today.  God fights for us.  The battle (and the victory!) are God's!
So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah, and the enemy fled. (13) Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many Ethiopians fell that they were unable to rally. They were destroyed by the Lord and his army, and the army of Judah carried off a vast amount of plunder.  ~2 Chronicles 14:12-13
God did it.   So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians...
Asa and his army just watched Him work.  ...in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah...
If we will trust in the Lord and submit our efforts to Him for real (Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone), He will show up for us for real (So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah).
Feeling outnumbered, intimidated, and overpowered, and as if the enemy is advancing upon us today?
Not anymore.
Crack open the Bible, and cry out to God.  God's Word provides hope and truth and victory.
Cry out to God today, and then watch Him work in our presence, in our hearts, and in our spirits.
Blessings,
sarah
