Corona Devo 1028

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, 
Mighty God, 
Everlasting Father, 
Prince of Peace.  
(7) Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.  
He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.  The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.  ~Isaiah 9:6-7

All that Jesus was born to be...He is.  Are we in-relationship-with/connecting-to/relying-on-Him in all of the ways and roles that He was born to be for us?

He was born a baby in a manger, but He didn't stay that way.  Today He is everything (to us) that the Scriptures foretold that He would be.

Come to Him.  Talk to Him.  Spill it all to Him.  Confess to Him.  Relax in Him.  Submit to Him.  Praise Him.  Recognize that we are sons and daughters of Him.  Love Him.  Rejoice in the day of His birth because He brought us all that we are worth.

Who do we go to for counsel?  
Where do we run when disaster strikes, questions come, or fear intrudes?  
Who do we gush about the blessings to?  Who do we confide-in and seek counsel from?  
Jesus was born to be our Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6).


And he will be called...Mighty God...  ~Isaiah 9:6 
Why do we fret and worry so much?  Jesus tells of His dominion and power over and over in the Bible, and yet we take the "ownership" of the day onto our shoulders and become burdened and frazzled and heavy from it.  Jesus is mighty!  Us bearing the burdens of each day was never His plan.
Jesus is mighty! 
Look at the powerful oceans waves, look at the Grand Canyon ,or the tallest mountain, and try to deny (Why would we want to?) that we serve a Mighty God.  
Let Him lead today.  
Jesus was born to be our Mighty God (Isaiah 9:6).


And he will be called...Everlasting Father...  ~Isaiah 9:6 
Consider a young child being led by the hand of their dad.  They are watched over.  They do not have to make big decisions, because they defer to their dad, who makes the best decision for them.  He cares for them.  He sees the bigger picture, which the child cannot even fathom, let alone understand.  The father would not willingly bring harm to the child that he loves so much and his love is pure and unconditional.  
All of this represents the love of our Everlasting Father.  And then multiply the earthly-father-love beyond what we can imagine.
God loves us so much.  More than the best earthly father.
More healthily and functionally than than any mortal man can love.
God, will never age, never die, never disappoint, never leave.  
Jesus was born to be our Everlasting Father (Isaiah 9:6).


And he will be called...Prince of Peace.  ~Isaiah 9:6 
Oh, how the world steals our peace: in a million tiny ways and in catastrophic (emotional/physical/spiritual) bombs that drop into our lives.  Peace is hard to find and even more difficult to keep.  But what if there was One born to bring it?  (So many seek to steal it.)  
Jesus was born to be our Prince of Peace. ~Isaiah 9:6

All good things must come to an end.  Isn't that what they say?  
But it's not true of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, born on Christmas Day.  
He will never end.  We needn't fear tomorrow or dread today.  He is here, and He will be here...for all eternity.

At work, we provide Trainings for customers, so that they can be updated and educated on all of the latest features (and how to use them) within our product.  Many companies do this--sharing "Best Practices" are a way to ensure positive outcomes on the customer and vendor sides of things. My kids often offer me "life hacks" that they have learned from watching an online video promising to "save time" and "make your life easier".  And just this week, my husband enlightened me about the "tear-away" feature built into most plastic rings holding cans/bottles of pop or Gatorade together.  When separated, the plastic rips open easily, releasing the bottle--saving wildlife that might be caught if it is discarded as trash, and saving me  frustration or angst because I no longer have to pull with all my might to get a bottle out of the plastic rings.  ( Who knew? )  Life hacks do save time and make your life easier! Who couldn't benefit from...

The unanswered “why’s” of life, the disorder of our days, and even the unfairness of our struggles can cause us to question ourselves and also to question our God. But the order-of-Creation and the systems that God has set in place are undeniable answers that swing back and forth like God’s pendulum-reminder that He set the world in motion, and He continues to keep order, even when it seems as if we and our world are in dis- order.   Job was a man going through some heavy and hard stuff.   Maybe we are too.   Job’s trials had caused him to question the order of life, and possibly God’s dominion over it.   We can relate.   The “Why’s?” and the “Why Me’s” can stack up in our minds and hearts, but like a parent exercising loving-authority over a child, God reminds Job and us--of His power, omniscience and of His ultimate authority over everything: Creation… and us today .   Then the  Lord  answered Job from the whirlwind: (2) “Who i...

Running low on " good things " today?  Doesn't it (sometimes) seem like/trend like/read like/tweet like/water-cooler-chat or backyard-fence-visit like/intimidate like/depress like... there are no  good things in the land? . I know. It's no secret that many have abandoned  the Law of the  Lord,  and at times, that's us .   It is evident all around us that people have  followed each other  in this sin.  When we look around...or when we live our days...we can wonder: Are there  any  good things  left in the land? There are still some good things in the land ...and no matter how bleak we feel the "forecast" for today is...there will always  be  some good things in the land, because God is in the land.   T he Bible reminds us of that today.   ~~~ The Israelites (and their king, Rehoboam ) were God's people, but like all of us at times/seasons of our lives...they wandered from Lord and His ways....
