Corona Devo 1058

There is just never enough time in our family mornings, and then, (Oh, perfect.) I see that we are covered in snow outside.  My mind races to the roads, the uncleared driveway and the extra-time (which we don't have) that will be necessary for travel.

My wheels are spinning.  My mind is racing.  My attitude is tanking.

Then...my God is speaking:

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  ~Psalm 23:1

Have I forgotten Whose I amI belong to the great I am.  (God said to Moses, “I am who I am."  ~Exodus 3:14).

The Lord is our shepherd.  Connect-the-dots to realize that we are His sheep.  The shepherd cares for His sheep, and God cares for us today.  May we slow down (stop wanting!) and be aware of the shepherd's presence today.

Why are we (choosing) to see only chaos, pressure, and haste?
Look again at our circumstances today.  Is there beauty?  Order?  Purpose?

(2) He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, (3) he refreshes my soul.  ~Psalm 23:2

Green pastures...snowy pastures...sandy pastures...whatever pastures God has placed us in today...lie down with Him in them.  He wants to refresh us...not harry us.

Why else would He invite us to lie down?  Why else would He lead us beside quiet waters?
The answer is...because He seeks to refresh our soul today.

If we will stop griping about the snow (or fill-in-your-blank), then we might realize He is utilizing it for a purpose today.
He makes me lie down...

Lay down your burdens.  Lay down your expectations.  Lay down your pressures.
He wants to refresh our soul today.
He desires to refresh our soul today.
He will refresh our soul today...if we will let Him.

What if we didn't face today as a chore/nuisance/hurdle-to-overcome, but rather....
What if we entered today as a path we were meant to walk.  A path God is guiding us along...for His glory, and for his name’s sake.

Would our path feel more beautiful (and less confining) if we realized that God is actually guiding us along it?  Let's enter the path with Him today.

He guides me along the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  (4) Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  ~Psalm 23:3-4

It won't always be easy.  Today might not be easy.  But we are on the path to righteousness, so should it be?
Press on today, for his name’s sake.
Keep it up today, for his name’s sake.
Don't give up today, for his name’s sake.
See the beauty in our duty today, for his name’s sake.

(5) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  (6) Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  ~Psalm 23:5-6

And one day it will be easy.
And today, being known-by-Him can be easy.  Being loved-by-Him is easy.  Being called-by-Him is always available and easy.  His goodness and love follows us all the days of our life.

Lie down in green pastures with Him today,
Let Him lead us beside quiet waters today.
He's here to refresh our soul today.

Stand up tall today, covered in His beauty and purpose, and call.

Our God is speaking.

Blessings,

sarah
