When one of our kids sends a laser-shot into the back of the net to score during a soccer game, I never plan to, and I don't even want to be "that mom" yelling for her kid, but out of nowhere and almost in tandem with ball smashing the net---a "whoop" rises up from my chest and projects out of my throat.  I can't help it--It's like my soul just has to react.

If we will champion and cheer inconsequential things like a little goal in a soccer game, I pray that we will also give God a hearty and guttural "whoop" for all that He is and the miracles He performs.  I pray that we can't help it--and that our souls just have to react to His majesty at work in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. (2) As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate...so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. (3) When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.

(4) Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” (5) The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. (6) But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”

(7) Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. (8) He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.

(9) All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God. (10) When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the...Gate, they were absolutely astounded! (11) They all rushed out in amazement to Solomon’s Colonnade, where the man was holding tightly to Peter and John.

(12) Peter saw his opportunity and addressed the crowd. “People of Israel,” he said, “what is so surprising about this? And why stare at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or godliness?

(13) For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of all our ancestors—who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this...

(16 ) “Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus’ name has healed him before your very eyes.  ~Acts 3:1-13, 16

That's amazing!  WHOOP, WHOOP, God!

But...that all happened way-back-when, when Jesus was in-the-flesh and sending out His disciples to do miraculous deeds.  But today...when we look around our world and our lives, miracles seem much harder to come by these days.

But look closer.

Keep praying and look closer.

Peter and John looked at him intently (Acts 3:4).

We want to see a lame man stand up and walk...that's a miracle.

But look closer.

Keep praying and look closer.

Miracle: This week I heard an update about my (newly) paraplegic (new) friend, whom my family and many people have been praying for.  She's gaining sensation in her body and limbs.  WHOOP, God!

Miracle: She's got three little kids and a husband, and she's in a nursing home right now, but her church took a love-offering to provide the funding for her to have healthcare within her home.  She goes home in a month.  WHOOP, God!  WHOOP, Family-of-Believers and Church-of-God!

Miracle: A nurse from their church family has decided to leave her current job in healthcare to rehabilitate and work with our new friend as she lives and recovers at her home.  WHOOP, God!  WHOOP, People answering the call-of-God!

Miracle: A father of a friend of hers has been serving her in prayer, but has also begun assisting her in treatment, and he has volunteered to continue to treat her when she goes home.  WHOOP, God!  WHOOP gifts-and-talents that God gives us to glorify Him as we serve others!

MIRACLE!:  This (newly) paraplegic 30-year-old with three kids, a husband, and her life in front of her has hope in her future and in her God  She has joy (she can't wait to go home).  WHOOP, God!  WHOOP, Spirit of God within each of us!

She is not anywhere near having range of motion in her arms and legs (yet!), but her joy-in-the- progressions and the her hope-in-the-improvements, and her proof-that-God-is-working-miracles has caused a figurative/emotional/spiritual "whoop" to rise up from her chest and project out of her throat.

She can't help it, and neither can I--our souls just have to react to God's majesty at work in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

May we see all of these miracles as an opportunity to address the crowds that surround us each day.

May we say (with faith in our Lord!), “People...what is so surprising about this? And why stare at us as though we had made this (happen)?

(13) For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of all our ancestors—who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this...

(16 ) “Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus’ name has healed him before your very eyes.  ~Acts 3:1-13, 16

Lord, we give You all the glory for the miracles that You still perform todayIn our midst and in our hearts.

May we look closer today.  Keep praying and look closer.

And may a "whoop" for God rise up from our chest and project out of our throat that we can't help-- like our soul just has to react.

Blessings,

sarah
