Corona Devo 1144
During the greeting-time at church this week, a woman recognized our son, approached him and introduced herself as an office administrator at his school. She joyfully announced that the next time she saw him at school, "I'm going to say 'Hi'!"
I think she was excited to see a (school) student at her church. There is an electricity in recognizing others in the family of God, and knowing that they are alongside us in faith.
And I just heard an unbelievable story about a young woman from church who was on a mission trip to Turkey to serve orphans, but before she got out of the airport, she was detained and put in a holding cell because she had "lost" her passport on the plane. I can't imagine what it might feel like to be held captive in a foreign country.
But (prompted by prayer and moral compass) some of our state officials and politicians did what they could to serve on their section of the "wall" and calls were made, prayers were prayed, and that girl is now out-of-her-cell and back home in her home country. I don't know all of the details, but God does, and there is an electricity in recognizing others in the family of God, and knowing that they are alongside us in faith.

Be reminded today(!) that God's got His people everywhere, and we can be encouraged and energized in knowing that we are all working side-by-side, right alongside each other, to build and rebuild His Kingdom. You've got your section, I've got mine, and to God be all the glory!
God gives us examples of that in life, like the lady at church or the politicians that stepped up. Like the nurse or doctor that know the Lord and treat us as such. Like the Believers in unbelieving places/jobs/situations that are making a difference for God in places that no one expects them to. Anyone come to your mind?
We can be encouraged and energized today in knowing that we are all working our unique sections to build and rebuild God's Kingdom. You've got your section, I've got mine, and to God be all the glory!
God gives us examples of that in His Word, too. Like when Nehemiah heard that the wall in Jerusalem was in shambles, and God put a desire in his heart and a fire in his spirit to do something about it. So he did. He went and rallied the God's troops (the Israelites) in Jerusalem:
But now I said to them, “You know very well what trouble we are in. Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire. Let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and end this disgrace!” (18) ...They replied at once, “Yes, let’s rebuild the wall!” So they began the good work. ~Nehemiah 2:17-18
And begin the good work, they did. Each in their own section. We are all laborers for the Lord--each of us building and rebuilding our assigned sections...all to the glory of God. Let's begin (and continue!) the good work for God today.
God's Biblical examples get specific and even historic. These were (verifiably) real people, doing real work for God (just like us). They had names, and they each had their section, which they worked (side-by-side) all to the glory of God.
Then Eliashib the high priest and the other priests started to rebuild at the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and set up its doors...
(2) People from the town of Jericho worked next to them, and beyond them was Zaccur son of Imri.
(3) The Fish Gate was built by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid the beams, set up its doors, and installed its bolts and bars.
(4) Meremoth son of Uriah and grandson of Hakkoz repaired the next section of wall. Beside him were Meshullam... and then Zadok son of Baana.
(5) Next were the people from Tekoa, though their leaders refused to work with the construction supervisors. (I left this verse in for any of us involved with construction! These verses are over 2,000 years old, but disagreements and attitudes are timeless!)
(6) The Old City Gate was repaired by Joiada... and Meshullam... They laid the beams, set up its doors, and installed its bolts and bars.
(7) Next to them were Melatiah from Gibeon, Jadon from Meronoth, people from Gibeon, and people from Mizpah...
(8) Next was Uzziel... a goldsmith by trade, who also worked on the wall. Beyond him was Hananiah, a manufacturer of perfumes...
(12) Shallum son of Hallohesh and his daughters repaired the next section. He was the leader of the other half of the district of Jerusalem. ~Nehemiah 3:1-8, 12
I think we get the gist...everyone stepped up and pitched in to build and rebuild God's wall around Jerusalem.
Nehemiah and the Believers of his day had a heart, a vision, and a call to begin the work. SO DO WE, Brothers and Sisters!
Be encouraged and energized today in knowing that we are all working our unique sections to build and rebuild God's Kingdom. We are all repairing God's Name, God's love, God's holiness--in our neighborhoods, schools, homes, nursing homes, hospitals, offices, families and in ourselves!
What do you do? Keep hard at work on your section today: we are all laborers for the Lord, repairing His wall, representing His Name, and sharing His Good News.
You've got your section, I've got mine, and to God be all the glory!
Blessings,sarah
