But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.  (2) When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.  ~Isaiah 43:1-2

When I flipped to a new calendar page this morning, this was the verse that greeted me.  Or...steadied me.  Or readied me?  What should we think when God greets us with words such as these as the day dawns?

For me, I knew He was calling a spade a spade.  (Is He doing the same for you?)

I am passing through the waters.  I am passing through the rivers.  I am walking through the fire.

You too?

Your waters, rivers, and fires look different than mine--but these verses prove that our Father sees all that we are facing today.

And He is reminding us (through His Word) that He does not just see the waters, rivers, and fires that threaten our (physical/mental/emotional/spiritual) safety and wellness...but God is with us as we pass through and walk through them.  He is protecting us even as we are in the midst of them.

Thank You, Father.

For Your Word.

For Your promises.

For SEEING us as the waters threaten to sweep over us today.

For protecting our bodies and spirits from the fire and flames of this world today. and from what lies before us today.

Even before we awoke, You were here.  Thousands of years ago, You posted Your Word (the Bible) for us to lean on, and You breathe it into us today, knowing what is around our corners.  You speak life, comfort, strength and promise into us today, before we even begin our day or encounters.

Thank you for not only SEEING our waters, rivers, and fires, but for passing through and walking through them with us.

You do.

You will.

You are.

Amen.
